Fleet Battles super favours the AI, though...

..that was the point. The AI plays to the objectives, reacts to what's happening and knows what it's doing, so is clearly very capable. It punishes newbs.

But it also shows what it's possible to do when players learn the capabilities or the ships and - more importantly - work together.

Being able to consistently defeat the AI will be a benchmark for how well you're progressing as a player and a team.

Just played some Fleet Battles against human opposition and yes, they were a lot closer.

You're perfectly entitled to your opinion, but I totally disagree with it.

The "if at first you don't succeed, give up and get it refunded" approach says it all, really.

Is that a thinly veiled "Git Gud'? because if so, **** you. The game doesn't match my expecatations of what I want it to be, and didn't want to invest any more time into it, therefore i've decided to spend my money and time elsewhere. If you're enjoying it then fantastic, I hope it gives you many hours of pleasure. But taking some bull elitist attitude that someone you don't know just can't hack being bad at a game (and i've been bad at plenty thanks) when that idn't remotely what i've said is moronic, and makes you look like a prick. Thanks.

No, it's simply pointing out what you yourself said - that you barely have the game a chance. It's certainly not bull or elitist to point out that that's clearly more of a "you" problem than it is a "game" problem.

Don't blame the game for your own attention span (or evident lack thereof).

Oh ok, I see. You're a prick. Thanks again.

You're totally welcome. When you can't enjoy a game for what it is because you're too busy sulking about what it isn't, you're probably better off calling it quits anyway.

I hope you find a less demanding game that's more to your liking.

Double down on that not git gud attitude! Awesome. I'm glad you've found something suitable fanboi really hard that suits your huge brain and elite skills.

I'll probably put the money into BG3 when it comes out actually, hopefully it's super easy to play and i'll be great at it from the start.

I've had it refunded on steam, my old TIE fighter/Xwing/XWA head can't cope with the weird changes they've made to all the ships in order to balance it. The TIE/ln having more hull than any other ship and more firepower than the poor old Xwing (which seems to have the least FP of any of the non-support ships) etc.

It looks and sounds like a Star Wars game, but doesn't feel like it at all. It's just a generic spaceship combat simulator painted up with a SW skin, and I imagine would be of niche interest without the licence.

The what...? I come from the same games that you mentioned and I can say for sure that this is the game that by far resembles them, even allowing a faster and more flexible access to power management.

I can understand when a game has a steep learning curve but trust me, this one is also kinda easy.

Be careful not to try Star Citizen if you can't cope with a game being difficult.

Dogfight as is seems incredibly unbalanced. Maybe I've just been lucky, maybe I'm better than I thought but I've played ten Dogfight missions as the NR and we've won every single time. The one match we had on the Yavin map was a total whitewash. The Imperial fighters really do pay for their lack of shields. When there's no cover to maneuver round, like Yavin, it just seems like they have no chance. This might sound like vindication for all those who thought (I guess rightly) that Imperial strength is supposed to be numbers and so a 5v5 will never be in their favour, but so far I'd assume any player who prefers being Imperial will be having a frustrating experience right now.

Beginners luck maybe? Combined with the matchmaking system (as far as I recall, it matches players with other players of similar experience / playing time).

Experience here is almost entirely the opposite; won most of the Imperial matches played, and lost as the Republic!

Will be interesting to see where we're at after 500 or so games.

How do we move this thread to off topic?

We already have one there... Need to be combined honestly.

There's not much "first appearance" stuff in this game, yeah? As far as stuff that could come to X-Wing, seems some of the named weapons and some systems.

Most of the named weapons sound pretty similar to things we already have, though.

R/D-77 Assault Shield feels like it could be a modification upgrade. EDIT: but really, this is just Reinforce, isn't it?

Goliath Missiles might be like a missile that has an attack but has a secondary chance of splash damage?

Multi-Lock Missiles might be annoying but could maybe work (can attack multiple targets with one attack)

XX-5 Seeker Warheads don't feel like they fit in XWTMG to me. But I'm sure someone out there has an idea that would make them distinct from countermeasures (wait, did I forget that countermeasures aren't in 2.0?)

Plasburst Laser Cannon could maybe be a thing but I don't know how to articulate into XWTMG mechanics. Maybe a cannon with charges that build 1 per turn, you could spend more than one charge when attacking for greater effect?

Guided Laser Cannon / Auto-Aim Cannon- Is this just an autocannon? Maybe could be slightly different but I'm not sure.

Composite Beam Cannon - seems to be the same as what's on the B-Wing prototype, or very similar in concept. I'd still expect to see this with a config for the proto. plenty have speculated on what this could do so I won't here.

I think we could get some pilots from this game, the four other members of each squadron would allow for more variety on the Rebel and Imperial ships and this game brings a great opportunity to bring back Keyan Farlander, since he's one of the randomly generated names for the New Republic pilot.

This happens for basically anything Star Wars that comes out. Someone posts in both places because a few think "this isn't directly related to X-Wing TMG, so I'll put it on off-topic" and a few others think "this is Star Wars and its got starfighters in it, so it's definitely related to X-Wing TMG." Usually one or the other gets picked up as the place most people continue discussions.

EG, the Clone Wars thread took off in X-Wing main, while the Resistance thread in off-topic saw more attention, even though both could be seen as either on- or off-topic.

I meant to include that in my comment as well but apparently edited it out. Some titles could be used as well (like squadron names on non-limited pilots).

I think Turret Mines could also make for an interesting Remote.

Oh seems I have missed some things. Would be fine as a remote or something. The seeker mines could work similarly but somehow differently to the buzz droids.

Radar masking could maybe be a mod or tech.

Some of the different engines might be neat. Since we're getting builder keywords, it could work.

Big fan of the Titan Squadron pilots. Particularly Shen. Dude is too angry to die 😂

Plasburst Laser Cannon - 2 attack, Range 1, front arc, 3 charges,1 recurring. No range bonus.

SET UP - Flip all charges.

During the system phase you may flip as many charges as you wish to add that many attack dice. If you do, you MUST attack with this weapon when you engage. If you have no valid targets you gain a disarm token.

What makes a Star Wars game a Star Wars game, though? Most of the classic games are easily described as "X game, but Star Wars".

There is nothing wrong with not liking the game. We each have our own tastes. But this "Star Wars game" concept confuses me. What makes Star Wars, Star Wars, isn't game mechanics. Star Wars isn't Mario or Sonic or Halo.

Give him an ability like Tel Trevura. He dies only to rise again.

Again, where did I say that I don't like the game because it's too difficult? That's just your weird conclusion?

Well I like it. But I don't like how difficult I'm finding it :D

None of them are in the cast list?

I can't find a full cast list, especially for the character creation voices.

A while back on one of their shows, Sam said he was playing "the new star wars game, you know, the one you guys are in" and Liam and Laura got VERY quiet and "ummm...what can we say right now" before they confirmed he meant fallen order. Seemed to me some of them had some Star Wars work under their belts that they couldn't mention at the time (around 2 months ago)

Thought maybe they'd be some of the random voices.

I just googled star wars squadrons full cast list and it came up. None of them are on there, even as bit parts, which I don't expect them to be cast for anyway, they are a bit high profile for small roles, especially Matt, Laura and Ashley.

We're all pretty much in the same boat at the moment. I've just about completed the campaign and played half a dozen multiplayer matches and I still haven't got the hang of half the controls! 😂

Switching power between systems, micro boosting and drifting, pinging targets, refocusing shields (or dumping power from weapons to engines in TIEs...) there's so many little things that will amount to a big difference once they become second nature!
