How many Vital Assets does one need?

By Mesrob, in Star Wars: Legion

Folks,

How many Vital Assets Expansions are you buying? Why am I asking? For example, the expansion comes with two Field Scanners and Two Bacta Capsules cards. I know they are one time use cards, but how many can you include in an 800 point list? Is there a limit? I ask because is it possible to add six Bacta Capsules to your army? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I hope it makes sense. This one is selling out fast, and I got my hands on one. Considering buying another. Thanks for your time!

Those aren't upgrades you can add to a unit when building your army. Those are cards in the Supply deck used in one of the Condition cards in the box. You really only need one Vital Assets, unless you are supplying your opponent and want them to have the option for their Battlefield deck.

Oh I see! Thank you so much for the quick response. So if I am playing my son, I should grab two, just so he can have the option for his battlefield deck also? Is that right. Much appreciated.

Or if you’re both just playing at home, why not use a single deck? Maybe throw more cards in the deck than a standard 4 of each type and then play.

Just an idea so you only need 1.

You only need one Vital Assets unless you both are going to play in tournaments then you could need two.

Still waiting on my copy so I haven't played this senerio yet, but in a tournament are both players supposed to have their own supply deck or it it one supply deck per mission that they share?

By the way Vital Assets is already sold out at Asmodee and Miniature Market, and some of the other big online retailers. Selling out quick.

There's only one supply deck. Having two would be strange, would you be able to force your opponent to forfeit if they didn't buy the same expansion you did? That wouldn't work.

I would never bother buying another for someone I'm playing in my house.

That's what I thought, but X-wing and armada both require each player to have a damage deck so there is a precedent for requiring two decks.

That's required for the basic mechanics of the game and entirely different.

Yeah... you are only ever using blue player's battle cards. If you are including Vital Assets cards in your battle deck for tournaments, you need one copy of Vital Assets.

I can't see any scenario where you would need 2 (even playing at home with someone).

O what's that more evidence of ffg underproducing stuff.....?

Sharing one set of cards for two people is very easy. Each player writes down what cards they need ahead of time, then when blue player is determined, that player can then assemble their deck, shuffle, and deal out the cards for the veto process.

I still have a perfectly fine time playing with a single deck at home.

Edit: by which I mean the damage deck for X-Wing and Armada. If I could convince my partner to play Legion, I'm sure we'd use a single deck there as well (they prefer single model unit style games).

Agreed. We've proxied the card and have been playing the Vital Assets at home for quite some time. I would argue that each player shouldn't have their own deck and should just share the same deck. There are already more cards in the deck than you can actually use. Part of it is whether your opponent ends up pulling the cards you want. It's a race to the supplies.

Well, for a single Battle deck for Legion, it's simply a matter of each writing down what 4 cards of each you want, then using the blue player's choices. Since the red player deck has no influence on the game, it doesn't matter what is in their deck.

couldn't everything be used by one set except the objective, deployment type cards?

everything else says use a token and you only need one bomb cart. The hostage could be anybody or a token as well.

Yes, all the miniatures included are enough for 2 players, if that's what you're trying to say.

But not enough cards

Yes, there's only one set.

I finally got my copy last night and it clearly says that there is one supply deck that both players share. All needed cards come in the box.

You only actually need one complete set of Objective/Deployment/Conditions cards for a game. As I said above, you can easily get by just through each having a written list of what cards you include in your list, then only shuffling those cards together after determining Blue player.
Now, if both people are trying to play in a tournament and both want to include a specific card, then yes, you will need two sets. What Vital Assets allows you to do though is provide the minis/tokens/cards for your selected Battle Deck that are required for both players. So for tournaments, if I don't include Hostage, I don't need to bring a Hostage miniature. If I do include Hostage, I would bring two hostage miniatures/tokens.

That's what we do. I was referring to earlier post that suggested that Blue player should pull from their Supply Deck and Red player should pull from their own Supply Deck.

Where are you getting this idea? I'm looking at the vital assets refrence right now and it says that the 16 cards supplied in this pack make up the supply deck. There is no picking which cards you want to be in the deck.
