The Faction I Want vs the Budget I Have

So I'm new here, considering getting into legion. In general, I think I like the Clone wars setting and factions more, as most star wars games and minis revolve around galactic civil war era. But, it's expensive and hard to find clone wars boxes at the moment, and there's a slow trickle of releases thank to COVID. My local FLGS has the original core sets at $60 and one clones core set for full price. So I could get two core boxes with shore troopers and another commander now for about the same price I can get one clone wars core set with one expansion, if I can find it in stock. Since I won't likely be able to play in person anytime soon, should I go for the deal that gets me to an 800pt army now and then slowly build up a clone era faction over time as they come back in stock and new stuff comes out? Or should I just go ahead and invest the heavier upfront cost to start slowly building the new faction?
