[BLOG] On The Rocks - New Post: Commitment Points

By DoubleDown11, in X-Wing

I write a blog sometimes. It's okay .

Often it has in-depth battle reports. They're upper level okay! There are some strategy/other articles too, I leave the determination of their okayness to you, the reader.

Mostly though, this is just me organizing some thoughts or scouring through my own games, and then sharing it online so that the activity feels mildly less unproductive. The blog has been around for a while, but I post too sporadically to really warrant people checking in on it, so I'll try to update this thread whenever there's a new post.

My most recent post was a pretty cool tournament match review about a duel of ace lists with some cool back-and-forth. Some of the other reviews are interesting too, even if the points are a little different these days.

Feedback and discussion are more than welcome. Either way, please enjoy!

I really enjoyed the bat rep. Very well written with good observations and self criticism that I can use to reflect on my own ace play. I do so prefer these in-depth reports, so please keep it up.

Good stuff!

Very nice and detailed thoughts with pictures that really helped me see what was going on. Thanks for your work!

Here's a new post on some strategy stuff, namely how to use the obstacles to get a read on your opponent's strategy, or at least how to think of them as something more than those things you're not supposed to hit.

Superb stuff!

Thank you for this! Truly one of the best X-Wing articles in recent memory!

Opening strategy

Step one was to discard almost everything I'd learned from studying my opponent's list and previous games. Step two was momentary panic. I combined these two steps in the interest of efficiency and allowed myself a 15 second period of cursing and head-shaking.
Step three was to pray to the dice gods that I win the initiative roll. I don't. I'm going first against a bunch of arc dodgers that can now relatively freely line up bullseyes and become viable 3-die threats. Step four, more panic.
With that done....
