Party Sistas (Rey + Phat Vennie)

Since 1st ed ition I always wanted to make the star fortress as successful as it is impressive as a model towering above all others.

Swarms become more important in my current meta (droids, Sloane) lately and I xfigured out that it night be the right time now:

The title of the list refers to the good old times of the party bus (YV666 with all crew slots filled) for me being a dedicated Scum Player otherwise.

Main idea is to use Vennie - of course - as bait because it can be very nasty to face bombs midgame. Rey assists from the flank as she comes too late to the party with Vennie already messing around.

Yesterday, I had my first game on TTS versus a friend with a droid Swarm (4x Vultures + 3x Hyena bomber) ready to deliver the requested challenge. Some Vultures had buzz swarms, some bomber a plasma torpedo and all of them grappling struts. He has a long win series with this list...

Both of us chose the biggest asteroids available (he wanted to land and I to blow them up).

He placed all of his vultures in block formation on my left board edge with the bomber right of them pointing to the vultures.

For me, Venni started in the middle somewhat pointing to the left to kick off one asteroid in the middle of the board in turn 2. Rey was at my right edge set up for flanking.

Turn1:

He went in rather aggressively towards the star fortress as it was his 'phantom menace'. Vennie went slow and Rey max speed (4) and boost to the left to get the first shot on a hyena bomber. I made 3 hits, kept the Rose lock and he suffered the first 2 damage. Besides this nothing could attack another ship.

Turn 2:

Now he split his forces with 2 Vultures and 2 Hyenas opposing Vennie while the damaged bomber t-rolled to get a shot at Rey together with 2 vultures. With the first block he barely missed his targeted asteroid and produced a bump for other ships. Vennie slow rolled after launching a seismic getting the 2 focus token. Rey managed range 1 for the damaged hyena and achhieved 5 hits which simply desintegrated him. Unfortunately, Rey got one buzz droid which she did not get rid off until the end. Vennie had 1 shot to no avail and took no damage in return.

Turn 3:

Here is it where this list shines. Vennie launched again one seismic and I managed damage on 5 opponents...

Rey killed again one vulture with 5 hits and Venni made his first damage and dropped a proton bomb (due to Paige). Thanks to his ability I suffered only mediocre damage.

Turn 4:

Vennie launched a proton bomb (now 2 protons on the board!). My friend messed up the flight order and bumped into Vennie creating a block chain with his ships. Vennie made the stationiery maneuver and took his 2 focus thanks to the pattern analayzer. Rey simply flew 1 straight. The proton bombs hit Vennie (no damage - ablative plating) and Rey (1 shield) but 4 of his droids killing one already damaged straight away.

Rey again killed something and Vennie got the first reasonable damage (no shields, 3 damage cards one of them hull breach) and a buzz droid for the next round.

Turn 5 (final):

Rey slooped to the right and boost 1 to attempt dodging the arc of a vulture. Vennie bumped into an ionized ship. Out of his remainig 4 ships only one had an attack on Rey and blanked while Rey killed another bomber (again range 1) and Vennie halfed the last hyena.

Tremendous victory for the Resistance! Rey had no shields and a hull breach. This damage came from one of my own proton bombs and 3 rounds of buzz droids while Vennie had 5 hull left.

That list looks like a lot of fun. I’m not sure how much value you’re getting out of heightened perception because Rey already shoots at I5 and needs the force for mods. Maybe a stealth device instead? With Finn and her ability, you can possibly keep it going for a few shots. It’s at least going to bring the value of a shield upgrade but has the potential to save several damage.

I played a rematch yesterday (same player, same list).

Outcome was fully different as I made a crucial wrong decision on my second turn. After launching a seismic bomb I had to choose 1 out of 2 possible ones. The asteroid I chose made 1 damage but the other one became a parking place for Rey for 3 turns...

Needless to say that she did not survive this mess very long. Although this bad decision she killed one vulture before the asteroid and another one in her final turn before dying to a buzz droid after a perfect sloop.

At the end Vennie remained above half points but I have only killed 66 points and Rey's value is 100 points.

After the game my friends told me that he changed his tactics as follows:

Asteroid setup close to my area to limit Vennie's possible targets and full focus on Rey as every shot from her kills one of his ships.

This plan turned out well for him because on top of Rey's misfortune only 2 out of 4 bombs had some success.

You forgot to mention your second bad luck: you parked Rey on the asteroid on purpose, but Vennies Seismic just missed that asteroid only by 2-3 mm, thus not blowing it up and giving Rey her shot. Perfect strategy, and with the wiggle room in an IRL game, this would have worked out.

Still, the perfect fitting Seignor's Loop as Reys last maneuver (through 4 droids, but over my buzz droids, which then took her last hull) was really nice flying.

I took the win, even while missing 1 torpedo shot and one droid turning the wrong way, during a crucial moment (could have killed Rey with the additional attack probably).

Now somebody needs to fight Rey+Vennie vs. Boba+xxx
