GenCon 2020 Cancelled -- When will Clone Wars Armada be revealed now?

By Reavern, in Star Wars: Armada

Civilization 6: The New Frontier Pass is great BTW.

A turn-based strategy game is the perfect game to play between forum posts. πŸ˜†

I put hundreds of hours into Civ V but couldn't get into VI. The AI seemed even more unintelligible in their actions towards you than previous games. The dlc is also highly priced in my opinion.

I thought games like that were all about taking your time with the turn? I'm lost.

Seriously?!? C’mon, FFG! What’s the point of pre-ordering my Lemmings if they never arrive on time?!?

What are the starter set sheeps? Exploding sheep (3 black dice out of each side?). Electric sheep (lots of blue dice). Any other ideas?

A "shears" upgrade for the Lemmings that allows them to strip Wool (the new shields equivalent.)

Much like ACM or HIE, it leads to a close range burst damage meta which favors the Lemmings' suicidal playstyle.

The Sheep can answer this to a degree with new Task Force titles that allow them some durability when they stick together.

The real balance problems are with mass ramming flocks.

I am shocked, shocked to find that @ovinomanc3r has not posted yet.

At this rate, my thread will have 1000 pages by the time FFG reveals the Clone Wars expansions.

A New Era

Announcing 2 new factions for Star Wars: Armada

"What the **** is this all about, then?"

-- Michael Gernes, FFG Product Design Meeting

Since the beginning, Star Wars: Armada has been a game set on a grand scale. Behemoth warships trade volleys of turbolaser fire. Nimble corvettes race to adapt to the ever-changing battle lines. Swarms of starfighters dart through the chaos, often turning the tides of battle. The stakes are high. Positioning is key. But, like, bro: what if you were actually on a farm this whole time? And there were these lemmings and sheep, and they were fighting?

In Q4 2021, dedicated players all across the United States* will live out the experience of climactic, irrational mammalian warfare in a familiar format. Due to inexplicable demand, the Sheep and Lemmings factions will be available in the form of 6 new expansions fully compatible with existing Star Wars: Armada rules and components.

Lead the Flock

Life on a farm can be demanding, and one of the greatest challenges is maintaining order against an undisciplined enemy. As a shepherd, you'll need to emphasize coordination and rigid adherence to plan to attain victory. Whether it's a pack of English Sheepdogs nipping at your opponent's flanks or an impenetrable, fluffy defensive wall , your units are designed with a unified approach in mind. Steely tenacity in the face of chaos is the defining feature of a successful Sheep commander.

Migrate or Die

Often misunderstood, the Lemming brings a whole new meaning to the term "aggressive expansion." Periodic population booms force the intrepid colonists to seek greener pastures -- even when such land is already occupied. Reliant on speed and numbers, an accomplished Lemming player will need to sow chaos among their opponent's ranks and engulf uncoordinated forces in a sea of fur. Will you rely on a seemingly endless horde of Steppe Lemmings ? Or will a smaller, but still sizable force of speedy Arctic Lemmings break through hostile defensive formations and win the day?

A New Front

Whether you're a courageous shepherd, a desperate lemming, or a fleet admiral trying to figure out what the heck is going on, these upcoming releases are sure to offer new ways to enjoy Star Wars: Armada. More excitement awaits, as both new factions will be explored in detail in future articles.

Stay tuned!

*Eventually we'll get to Europe. Eventually.

Wow. We finally get a Sheep/Lemmings announcement and it barely tells us anything. Where's the actual reveal?!? What unique Lemming upgrades are we going to get? Who are the Sheep Commanders and what are their abilities? I feel like FFG isn't even trying sometimes...

Up your difficulty by one, that should fix it.

I really like Civ 6s district system, it makes the focus on your cities/locations/specialized and can really set your win conditions depending on how you utilize the land around you. I did not like it at first, but it made a lot of sense.

Gathering Storm was an excellent expansion esp for game balance. The natural disasters are meh, just another system to manage, but the Governors system.

Posting for thread vibe with relevant changes:

Wow an entire year will go by and this is all we get. what a turd, a lump of coal. After all that wave II SSD delay we get screwed with this. Wow. This is the worst game news I have ever come across in my entire adult life. I mean this is terrible. Luckily, it is just a game, but FF has lost me as a customer. You can take your future product and....

OGM and they way they sell e turn with all the fluffy writing. Just reading it made my stomach turn. They basically didn't devote any resources toward Armada. Without momentum this fledging game opabout epic fleets game is heading straight toward the toilet. I love how the fluff keep talk about how this meager offering was making the game more epic. What a joke. How did the person even stomach writing that junk. I would pn't even recommend new players getting in now. I was planning on running three demo tables for up to 12 players at a convention in April in Huntsville...forgetaboutit. Wow what a deuce.

I was on the wrong side of the sales argument. To all those who said FF was dropping Armada. You were right by default. Lake of "real" support for a game about being epic means the same thing as no support. Just a ruse to sell existing molds and current inventory. Wve VI Wve XI Forgetaboutit it. There won't be enough interest and this game will collect dust like my others.

Me buying Rebellion, not now. Wouldn't even play it. I'll cut off my nose to spite my face from this point on. You could be the producers of bloody rage and I would still boycott your betrayal.

And because this is a rant and I am pulling all support from FF let me TLDR this one more time:

They dug the ditch for this game and threw out this small token to help sell off their last remaining product of neb bs ISD, MC80s, VSDs etc. They clearly have no serious intention of growing this game now at this critical juncture and this token move was just to help move existing inventory. Completely betrayed. I will never buy another FF product again. After getting my wave VIIi stuff next for X-wing AAT tank, Iden, vital assets and Cassian for Legion I am out. It is preordered and too late to fix. This game needed at least 3-4 more good capital ships in the short term to gather the momentum it needed to inspire the people who haven't made the lead and to shore up some of the glare holes on both sides.

The the meta will be 6 quarter at the minimum even if in the off chance I am wrong and they decide to get their stuff together and not screw the people would poured so much emergy, hope, and money into this game. Going to Shapeways isn't the answer because the plastic mold are junk.

The only lemon to sweetie is that I can save time by rarely checking my FF account and moving on to the many other games in my collection.

Basically called it a wrap And complete threw us under the bus. The game needed 4 more good ships per side to help this game flourish. Wow, I can't believe I just got suckered so bad and now feel so ripped off after spending all the money I did. 12 dice packs, 12 distance rulers, three 3x6' tables, laser, 45 ships, 14 squadron packs, hours painting, etc to get basically completely screwed because this was a clear message that this game is finished. They didn't build on the momentum of wave two.

Freaking flotillas clone wars . You seriously gotta be kidding me. They don't even look good. Could even staggered the height and maybe even used four at different levels. Junk

Ok maybe as part of a release with at least 2-3 capital ships and a new fighter pack with some new admirals, objectives, etc. added in some of the packs. Two packs of junk for an entire year. At least this will be on time because there is basically nothing to produce. One guy working on this junk eating hot pockets in his mom's basement.

Worse bone thrown ever. They can forget people getting excited about this game. You can feel the loss of sales now this crapper is swirling around the toilet. No excitement among the serious casual player will home of this. Oh the small tournament scene will play on, but without the causual gamers wanting variety and ships to fill somewhere in the 82-104 gap for the rebels and the 90-108 gap for the imperials. Many of who just got enough money saved for wave II wave VIII won't be pulling the trigger now they have shown that they now longer take this game seriously and put even a few team member on this.

Oh and let make the Rhymer ball big ships even better with pout giving the Rebels GCW era some love on that front. When playing more than 400 points the Rebels GCW era are at a severe disadvantage.

So a floatilla of clone wars upgrades for existing ship...ok nice start, but No Where Is the Beef. There is none because you just saw the death of the game.

Wow, memories

The eventually we'll get to Europe hurt me.

Here in Spain we don't even know if they are translating the game anymore.

Am I an actual insane person?

No! I'm the smartest man in the room! Everyone else is stupid!

I don't comment very often about people, but seriously dude, give it a break. The more you say and try to defend your position, right or wrong, the more you are going to get dogged. Just let it go and move on to something more productive and worthy of your time, whatever that may be. I am not even suggesting anything snarky, just saying, this thread or any other is not worth getting so worked up about. Throw a rack of ribs on the grill and grab a brew and play with some plastic ships with your buds.
