Roll20 API no longer working?

By Cremate, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Have any of you experienced any issues with the dice and character sheets for Roll20 lately? Mine worked fine a week or so ago, but when I logged in to run tonight's session it no longer worked. I've tried to reboot the API, but it didn't help.

Basically all the images and icons are gone. I'm new to Roll20 and I'm uncertain whether the problem is on my end, whether it's a fixable bug or whether it's because the image directionary it draws upon has been taken down somewhere (a lot of fan-made digitalisations of FFG games have been taken down lately).

Anyone else experiencing the same issue? Anyone with a clue on how to fix it?

It's a game I run for some of my primary school students currently isolated at home because of the pandemic. I'm not sure I'll be able to continue the sessions without the digital platform, given the current circumstances, and some of these are vulnerable kids for whom this game means the world (especially given the situation).

So I just went into one of my games and ran a test and everything seems to be working fine. I will say over the last few months we have had some serious lag time between when a player rolls the dice and when they show up, but I've just assumed that was due to all the use Roll20 has been getting lately.

Now this was a game that already had the API installed, not sure if that makes a difference or not. Hope this helps.

This was a game on its 5th or 6th session and the problem only surfaced today.

Thanks for checking! It means I know the problem is likely on my end. A relief that the APIs are not at fault. I wonder how to sort it out, though.

Just logged into my game and did some test rolling. Seems to be working fine so maybe it was just high-volume time or temporary glitch

The character sheets look fine, but the dice roller API can have a bad lag. My group has started using SkyJedi as a backup.

Just tested now and it worked fine for me. As other have said, sometimes it’s super laggy.

We had a session last night and the API kept crashing. I opened a separate window so I could keep restarting it. THEN I turned off the music I had running in the background and the API stayed up the right of the night. The music was three songs (the party was in the middle of a large fight and the I had my battle mix running).

Don't know if this was the cause but it worked. I did try a couple quick sound effects (explosions, blaster fire, etc.) and that didn't impact the API.

We had a game Saturday night, and sometimes the delay to see the results of a roll would take up to 5-10 mintues, but other times was instant. We used the discord dice rolling bot as a backup.

I have experienced this same issue I just copy the game and the new version works fine.
