May release?

By Tirion, in Star Wars: Legion

@Reavern If a store is shorted on new product they ordered from the distributor, and the distributor has leftover stock after "fulfilling" all orders, then that problem ISN'T with the manufacturer. I've seen some claims of stores getting a partial restock, while others still are missing part of the initial order. My local store was able to get more Clone wars core sets after the initial release, because they ordered right away. This is SOLELY what I was addressing.

I will agree that the log lag time in reprints IS FFG's fault. I'll even agree that stuff selling out in the first few weeks is the fault of FFG, either directly, or some other choke point in manufacturing/shipping preventing them from producing enough to meet the initial demand, but a store being shorted on an order is the fault of the distributor IF the distributor had the product to supply and didn't.

We've seen distinct evidence of Alliance giving certain stores preferential treatment in the past: Miniature Market shipping the Clone Wars Core well in advance of the approved street date. According to FFG, distributors were supposed to still have the products, not stores.

Despite the latest and greatest NOT being on the shelves, the old stuff IS. Many places you can find Star Wars Legion products in the shelves, but it isn't the Clone Wars stuff, it's Leia, Veers, Snowtroopers, Rebel Commandos, etc. Word of mouth will also spread it, not to mention the internet. Review sites, wargaming blogs, friends, etc. Without looking for it, you can still find it.

Aside from Rebel Commandos, the Legion expansions that you mentioned are ones that most players only need or want 1 of.

Rebel Commandos are sold out at my LGS and the other online board game shops in my area. I understand that stock can vary by region, but generally speaking, the expansions that players want are difficult to find.

For example, why can't FFG make enough Death Troopers !? They've been in short supply since they were released a year ago. Legion Imperial players want Death Troopers. Stores want to sell customers Death Troopers. Distributors want to supply stores with Death Troopers. And FFG/Asmodee presumably wants to sell Death Troopers to anyone who wants them. But there are no Death Troopers available!

So logically , what is the problem? It has to be a supply problem.

FFG/Asmodee should reprint twice as many Death Troopers expansion as they originally did and that should fulfill the demand and provide enough reserve stock for the next year or so.

(BTW, I don't need Death Troopers myself; I already own 3 units and don't need more. I was just using it as an example of a persistently out-of-stock Legion expansion to prove my point.)

I understand that. I was addressing this part of your previous post:

Any Star Wars fan who sees Legion products in a store is going to stop and take a look.

by pointing out there is still product there to educate them that the game exists. After that, they will search it out if they are particularly interested.

And once again, I agree that the RESUPPLY issues are the fault of FFG, beit directly or some flaw in their manufacturing/shipping chain they cannot or will not "fix" (limits on what can be shipped at one time, limit of production in X time, etc). My earlier comments about the distributors were about stores being shorted on their initial orders for new product while the distributor still has product in their warehouses. That is the extent of the blame I place on the distributor.
