Poe needs a Speeding Ticket??

By Gupa-nupa, in X-Wing

So this is just a crazy idea for a squad. I'm sure that I'm not the first to think of this squad, but I haven't heard it anywhere else, so i'd love to know if it is legal. Here goes!

Here is a portion of a squad. These are the only parts that you need to make this work:

Speeding ticket Poe

(29) R1-J5 [Fireball]
(8) Amilyn Holdo
(4) Cloaking Device
Points: 41

(68) Poe Dameron [T-70 X-wing]
(8) BB-8
(2) Black One
(3) Advanced SLAM
Points: 78

Total points: 119

And here is the steps to sling-shot poe:

Step 1. At round one activation, cloak with R1-J5, and focus with poe.
Step 2. Before round one engagement, give poe the cloak token, and R1 the Focus using Holdo
Step 3. Plan a 4 straight with Poe.
Step 4. During the system phase decloak forward with poe, using the 2 straight template
Step 5. Execute the 4 straight maneuver. For your action, SLAM, an additional 4 straight. Then, using advanced SLAM, Boost.

So, if all of this is legal you can move:

2- Decloak
1- Base
4- Manuver
1- Base
4- SLAM
1- Base
1- Boost
1- Base

= 15 bases forward.....

Am I missing something, or can poe really go that fast?

Equip Afterburners instead of Advanced Slam. Afterburners a bank boost after the SLAM maneuver, then Poe a barrel roll.

Wait, how do you even equip Amilyn Holdo to the Fireball? That ship doesn't have a crew slot according to the Resistance Point Costs and Upgrade Slotspread list.

Most of them don't. R1-J5 is flying from the astromech position, do he trades the astro slot for a crew slot.

yup! its a weird trick, but will most likely catch your opponent off guard if you can execute it properly!

If you wanted to, you would swap R1-J5 for BB-8 or Rose in the transport pod, to save you 3 points, but I think that the additional health is more important...

The Transport pod doesn't have the illicit for a cloaking device

Gah!

See, this is why I can't have nice things! I find something good and then I get sloppy and try and make it better, which in the process totally screws it up! Good catch though- I thought there was a reason that I chose to have it be the Fireball.

Uh, yeah. Seems FFG sneakily changed the list entry without changing date or version number...

Um... I am quite sure it's always been like that...

No, I had that old (and faulty) version saved to my computer. That's why I was asking... 😉

Anyway, let's get back to topic.
