Shadows- Putting into play, house restrictions etc.

By ccgtrader99, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

A couple friends of mine had a discussion going, and we aren't sure how this works. Specifically, how does this interaction work:

Blackwater Raiders (2 cost shadow crest character) "Once Blackwater raiders comes out of shadows, choose a location in an opponent's discard play. Put that location into play under your control".

Question 1. Is there any restriction with putting a card with the shadow crest directly into play? Must it first be put into shadows? (putting into play, not marshalling the shadow card).

Question 2. Is there any restriction other than deckbuilding with the house only card (ie. Putting Alchemist's Guildhall directly into play)?

Thanks guys.

There are no restrictions placed on using "put into play" effects on Shadow cards. The can be put directly into play with card effects. The only restriction is that Shadow cards cannot be "played" directly from your hand during Marshaling. They have to go through Shadows.

Shadow cards with the "House X only" limitation are no different from any other card with the "House X only" limitation. Deckbuilding is the only place it matters. A Baratheon player, for example, could take control of Alchemist's Guildhall or Shadow-Tyrion.
