Another Lurker preview

By Brine, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

For some reason I feel the need to post a link to this old thread and mention that the user named "unknown" is Kroen.

when did the forums get scarier than the game???

Looks like a victory by seals then?

I think the following came away with gate trophies on that one...

AVI

Grundunza

Nice work gents (I was worried about the rising terror level)

I really like the concepts I'm seeing here. The idea of selling your soul to the devil is an awesome mechanic if it is pulled off right, and hopefully the pool of cards required will support it.

Also, this expansion is starting to appear worth the $25 I pay for 'em. I was kind of disappointed to open up Pharoah and see how little it included, in terms of adding content. Between the new gates, the power cards, and all the rest... well, I'm not expecting a ton of new items or anything, but man will this be a big change!

Here here. I was expecting to get the standard "small box" fare: mythos, gate, items, and a new expansion mechanic. I was not expecting new gates and a new universal mechanic! And, it's nice to see the heralds return to the original "specialty cards" and "risk/reward" mechanic that made King in Yellow's herald so great.

Maybe we can have the Off-topic section back, then.
Don't know what happened, in the last week I had been on holidays (in the mountains, with a sprained ankle and a constant, heavy rain... what a fun...) and when I returned home and checked the forums... the Off-topic threads were so much off-topic that they went lost in time and space

I think my complaint to anceint ones at FFG work and they listened to my plee and removed kroen from these forms. demonio.gif But now back to Lurker, all the new elements look great but I really can't wait to hear about the new gates.

;') I was thinking something along those lines yesterday, but I didn't post it.

Hrm, with all his posts deleted in this thread many of the other posts now make no sense. And it looks like Avi was talking to himself for 4 posts >_>

now I am almost certain that this dude (kroen) is not for real. You just need to give an email... which take about 2 sec to create. So, it may even be the case that kroen has another avatar... someone from the forum could be playing the "kroen"...

Hummm.... let's see...

Well, Avi, down the mask: you are kroen, aren't you ? ;o)

If they've tried banning him multiple times, I'm surprised they don't just ban his IP.

Remind me what the reward in KiY was. Don't get me wrong I like KiY but I don't remember any mechanics that helped the investigators (short of having 6 mythos cards that were usually 1 free gateless turn and a few very good items added neither of which are tied to the KiY herald). Don't get me wrong I really like KiY but I still feel it simply adds new obstacles for the Investigators to avoid as oppsed to new obstacles and new tools to deal with those obstacles.

I'm mad. I'm not that mad ;'D

unless you a have a fixed IP (not the common case), it changes all the time. Not so easy I guess. but you certainly locate the guy. :-)

I also look like that when I talk on my cellphone. Even more so when talking on an imaginary cellphone.

Maybe I should have been more clear: KiY herald presented a risk/risk scenario: what's safer, a doom token or a random blight? What's cool about KiY is that the investigators get to choose their poison.

Famous last words. gran_risa.gif We've only seen 2 Reckoning cards; who's to say there aren't some nasty ones triggering on just possessing the card alone? "Anyone with a Dark Pact must lose X or be devoured." Better yet, how about a Reckoning that requires you to HAVE some Power Tokens or be devoured?

Sure, or someone could get "a gate and a monster appears" in encounters if they weren't being careful. I'm not sure it's anywhere near as big a problem if you're devoured after closing the gate, though - the gate is sealed, and the new Investigator can take some fresh pacts for the next gate. Even with the relationship cards, the penalty to the team for devouring remains quite low (be devoured to seal a gate is usually quite a good deal, so seal a gate and then maybe get devoured somewhat later is almost always worth taking)

Now, a reckoning that said "anyone with a Dark Pact must spend X or add a doom token / raise the terror level / remove a seal", that would provide some disincentive to do this.

According to the Updated information, it appears as though "Lurker" is On the Boat

Well then I guess I should re-open my earlier comment:

:D

This is good. But all the previous expansions were released prior to when I bought them. Lurker is the first one I have to wait for, so how much longer till it comes out now that its on the boat.

You don't say ;)

Could be any time really. The boat carrying the Secrets of Arkham expansion for the Call of Cthulhu card game, for example, seems to have taken an interesting route from the factory... I imagine that Arkham Horror expansions are more privileged though.
