Game needs the Tie Avenger. Something between Advanced and Defender. It's also the last tie from the X-Wing/Tie Fighter video game not included.

It's round in the original cutscenes of Tie Fighter. You're thinking of a later game.

Avenger is functionally identical to the X1.
The TIE Oppressor, while ugly, is at least unique. I would like to see it.
Nothing wrong with a cheaper TIE Defender with a Torpedo slot instead of a Missile slot.
The Avenger has twice the guns and better maneuverability than the x1.

So what you're saying is that it's more recent appearance, they replaced the standard TIE round cockpit with a more angular, geometric one. Gotcha.
It's pretty clear the TIE Silencer took design cues from the Avenger, if (like everything First Order) it exaggerated them with the sleeker, sharper wings etc. Essentially they're both a TIE Interceptor crossed with the TIE Advanced.
In any case, the Silencer makes a much better Avenger sub than the stock Advanced; the Silencer requires a repaint and two wing cuts; the Advanced four wing cuts, but the Advanced's wings are rear weighted while the Avengers' are centrally weighted; for best results you'd need to remove the Advanced's wings completely, cut the solar panels and then put them back on the model back to front. Even then it wouldn't be 100% (and you'd still be left with the earlier version of the cockpit).

Something like a 3/3/3/1, with essentially the dial of a standard TIE fighter, on a single action with S-Foils open and missing one of the movement actions, but with linked actions with S-Foils closed at the cost of an attack die. Imperial X-Wing. That's kinda dull, but functional and likely feels a bit different from other Imperial options.
TIE Hunter would also be a cheap/fast cannon and torpedo carrier. 😉

So basically a T-70. 😉
Anyhow, I'd had a different thought occur to me: what if it had a 2-dice primary, but something similar to the B-Wing S-Foils to allow it to cannon + primary? Maybe even the same "spend a lock" to do it. Hrm...
- 2/3/3/1 statline
- Dial: TIE Fighter/Phantom-ish, missing 1-straight and maybe banks, with no hard blues.
- Actions: Focus/Evade/Lock/Roll.
- Upgrades: [Talent]/Cannon/Torpedo/Configuration.
-
Solar S-Foils Configuation:
- S-Foils Closed: grants Boost action and some linked actions. Is that Focus > Boost? Evade > Boost? Both Roll and Boost linked to Evade? Both movement actions linked to Focus?
- S-Foils Open: no actions granted (or maybe just Lock > Roll), but the text "After you perform a Cannon attack, you may spend your lock on the defender to perform a bonus primary attack against that ship." Not exactly the same as the B-Wing, but pretty similar. Potentially better, since you could tractor then attack, but this is a ship which won't carry FCS, and only has a 2-dice primary weapon.
- Cost: I guess TIE/v1 or RZ-1 levels. On a surface level, this is pretty similar to a M3-A Scyk, but there's boost access and linked actions, plus double-tap potential, so I think it ought to be noticeably more expensive.
//
That would feel rather different from my version of a TIE Avenger:
- 3/3/3/1 statline
- Dial: I'd be quite happy to copy the N-1 dial with a few tweaks: swap the T-Rolls to S-Loops, maybe add red 1 hards, and make the 4 straight blue. Could also go with something kind of like a Starviper or IG-2000. In any case, pretty strong blue banks and straights, but no blue hards.
- Actions: Focus/Evade/Lock/Roll > Focus/Boost > Focus
-
Ship Ability: Advanced Hardpoint: You can equip 1 Cannon, Torpedo, Missile, or Payload upgrade.
- I think folks would want to be able to use a space bomb or beam weapon. Like pretty much everyone else, they'll have to make a choice what weapon to use, but they *can*.
- Upgrades: just Talent/Modification. It has the Hardpoint, so having few upgrades is OK.
- Cost: It's worse than a Starviper, so should be noticeably cheaper. I kinda think low 40s, and above the 41 point breakpoint, at least to start. It's a little bit squishier than an X-Wing (but can defensively highroll better), but you've got great actions without losing a 3-dice primary, so I want to keep it just north of 5-per-list at release.

So that's definitely a TIE Avenger MkII lol. Not even what we are talking about. Shaking my head man. No respect for the original TIE Avenger? Sadness.
I'm probably in the minority of Republic players, but I'm actually more excited by the prospect of a V-Wing than the Actis. Clone heavy or even Clone only squads are far and away my favorites. My pipe dream would be something similar to an A-Wing stat line and actions, dial with the same basic maneuvers as the A-Wing and TIE/ln, and talent, missile, and astromech for slots. Will there be some Q series mechs included???

Of course it would have 2-dice primary.

The polygon shape came from X-Wing vs Tie Fighter Balance of power. Before that it was rounded and slightly egg shaped.
It's last in Canon appearance was essential guide to warfare which used Fractualsponges model which does a good job in incorporating that egg shape I think.

This is the TIE Avenger's later, most common iteration:

I would like to see more clone heavy squads as well. I think between this and the LAAT there will be more tools. Wolfe and broadside will get some unique clone backup.
On a side note between takin and with lords of Sith books I associate the v wing more with the empire than the republic (even though it was being phased out). It would be be cool to fly tarkin.

Fractualsponge's version is definitely the best one.
