De Vermiis Mysteriis Spell

By alboy, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Is the title of this Spell card spelt wrong.

Also this Tome is headed Arkham Encounters, how do you spend Movement points in the Arkham Encounters phase.

Misprint: Card should be used during Movement Phase, not Arkham Encounters.

From the wiki.

Are you saying "misprint" to the title of the Spell, as above Mysteriis should be Mysteries.

Title of the card seems okay:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Vermis_Mysteriis

The card says Vermiis thats double i, the wikipedia says Vermis only one i. Does anyone know which one is correct.

Sorry for the misinformation, the card is not a Spell it is a Unique ltem. Still need an answer if anyone knows it.

Yep, it should be latin. So, vermis, is, third declination noun, genitive VERMIS. Mysterium, ii, second declination neutral noun, ablative plural: MYSTERIIS (double i is correct).

The title means "about the mysteries of the worm", so De vermis mysteriis is the correct one

Maybe.

But the answer is that tomes are used doing movement phase, and the card was written incorrectly.

My latest question refers to the spelling on the part of the card title "Vermiis", with a double i stated on the card. ls this spelt wrongly, should it be Vermis spelt with just a single i.

As Julia said, it should be titled, "De Vermis Mysteriis," or, "Regarding Mysteries of the Worm."

Julia, I think I love you ; )

::blushing:: If you want to make a man falling for you, try to cook something decent. In case this is not possible, latin is a good second choice ::smiling::

Or perhaps cooking for a man and telling him the latin words for what he's eating. (As long as it doesn't involve worms.)

Good point, but a little too complex for me, I still need a dictionary... need more hands... maybe tentacles ::laughing::

laughing! Tentacles...that's just funny ; )

So there are two errors on this Unique item card.

(1) Vermiis should be spelt Vermis.

(2) Arkham Encounters should be Movement.

I suppose the other option is that it's not a typo and it can only be used in one of the rare encounters that let you read tomes in Arkham Encounters, but I think there's only three of them, none from Dunwich Horror or the base game, so that doesn't seem especially likely ;)

You find a cipher for interpreting old texts and hieroglyphics! You may immediately use any Tome or other item that requires an expenditure of movement points to use. (CotDP, Historical Society)

or

"What a shame," a voice whispers, "such unused potential." Search the Unique Item deck and take the first Tome you find. If it requires a skill check to read, then you may immediately make a check to read it, without spending any movement points to do so. (KiY, Witch House)

or

You meet a research assistant who is quite taken with you. Roll a die. You gain that many free movement points, to be used immediately on any Tome or other item that requires an expenditure of movement points to use. (CotDP, Admin Building)
