Space Combat Questions

By Dionysus2245, in Game Masters

Hey Guys,

Old GM, but new to this system. I'm trying to sort out the rules on space combat, especially related to Evasive Maneuvers and Gain the Advantage with multiple ships.

1. Ship A uses Evasive Maneuvers, and then Gains the Advantage on Ship B. Does ship A still have Evasive status against ship C?

2. Ship A has has GtA vs. ship B. Ship C wants to GtA vs. A. Should ship C get a bonus die? If ship D comes along, would it get two bonus dice to GtA, as a sort of flanking bonus? Ship A can't evade/avoid all of them at the same time.

3. Does GtA act for a single round and then stop? Or does it persist until the opposing ship breaks the advantage?

I am imagining a battle between the PCs' light freighter and multiple fighters.

Thanks, all!

Yes. Ship A ignores the effects of Evasive Maneuvers on Ship A and Ship B, but that is all that happens.

Mechanically, no. This is not covered. However, that is a very reasonable GM call.

It lasts until the end of the following round. If it is performed at the beginning of round 1, it lasts until the end of the final initiative slot in round 2.

Cool--Thank you!

I second every answer before me, only like to add that I'd treat the second question as an assisted check.

So I wouldn't give bonus dice if C alone tries to GtA on A, but wouldn't impose the penalty either. However, D assisting C then I'd give the appropriate bonus for C's check as per assisted check rules.

I wouldn't give bonuses for multiple ships trying to GtA on the same target, because at that point they're going to interfere with each other. Yes, the target ship is in a lot of trouble, but the others have to coordinate so as not to collide with each other or cross into the line of fire. Now, if an X-Wing is chasing a TIE, and that TIE pilot calls out to his buddies, he could certainly offer them some form of assistance, just by relaying his position. "He's on my tail! I'll bring him to you; we'll be passing between the South pylons in eight seconds. Get him off me!"
