Weapon Dice Pools and Attachments

By dpbxyz, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hi all,

I'm new to the game and was hoping the wisdom of the boards might help me out with a question. re: constructing dice pools for weapons with attachments. Let's say I have a heavy blaster pistol with a custom grip that has the +1 Accurate mod (and I have Coordination 3 with 2 ranks in Ranged-Light).

Now let's say I decide to add the Ascension Gun as an attachment to the heavy blaster pistol (base = easy difficulty to fire ascension gun in medium range). When firing the ascension gun, I believe I get the boost dice from the boost dice from the custom grip's +1 accurate mod. Is this correct? So my dice pool for firing the ascension gun attachment would be 2Y-1G-1B-1P?

Thanks in advance for helping his noob.

Technically, no. As an example, here's how the stats would be written up:

Heavy Blaster Pistol: Ranged (Light); Dam 7; Crit 3; Accurate 1, Stun setting, removes 1 Setback when used by owner.
Attachment: Ascension Gun [base modifiers description]

One of the big reasons for this is that most Accurate ratings come from the weapon as-is or from modifiers to the weapon's internals. Any benefits granted by scopes are more likely to contribute to firing an Ascension Gun. As you can see, we're already getting into the weeds as to how to parse which apply and which do not.

That is the legal answer. However, a GM is well within their rights to say that it applies.

Somehow something got screwed up.

Thanks P-47. While not the answer I wanted to hear, i understand the logic of it. I'll check with my GM but he tends to go by RAW so I'll expect him to say no.

Agreed with P-47 on all accounts. I also agree that something like added accuracy (maybe due to crosshairs or something) would grant the boost. But in the end, it's a GM call. It cannot hurt to ask.
