For the Game Designers

By Tirion, in Star Wars: Legion

When considering the AT-TE don't use the "official" measurements of 22ish meters long. No form of media had portrayed it as such and nothing pre Disney had it even close to that big. BF2 doesn't have it that big, no one does. It is carried by a vehicle, LAAT, that is some 18 meters long.... 22 makes no sense.

It is closer to 14 meters long.

I'm not saying that it belongs in the game or not just don't base the decision on 22 meters cause that is wrong.

Guys I've been locked up too long...

Good point actually

For reference, the movie media agrees with OP's post.

FFG generally uses props and stills for their models- I think the most extreme example is the Scurrg, which is nowhere near its "stated size," but does look pretty accurate to the games when you put it next to an N1 or Aethersprite.

So I wouldn't worry too much.

The Incredible Cross Sections book says the specs are 12.4 meters (hull only). The legs and guns kind of stick out but not that much. Maybe the cannon on top is what is skewing the numbers. I think it’s not too big for Legion and I feel like they will make it someday

I agree I think it is at the top of the size limit as it would be around 33-40% longer than an AAT but really wouldn't be all that much wider. That puts it around 11 inches.

Big? yeah, undo able.... not in my mind. I think the only CW era vehicles that are too big are the A5, the Spider droid and sadly the MTT..... that thing is MASSIVE.

I think they should publish Legion stats for pretty much everything even if there's no official Legion models.

That's still almost twice the length of the Occupier.

Only from a certain point of view.

I can definitely see it being made for an apocalypse sized game.

Would love to see the gunship as the next heavy though. That would fly off the shelves so fast!

I don't own one. How many inches long is it?

About 6/7 inches I think.

Totally doable

Personally, I think the AT-AP is more likely, being somewhat of an analogue to the AT-ST. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see and AT-TE and I don't think it's off the table, just more likely further down the line in a separate, big box release a la the Armada SSD.

The AT-TE would probably be using a similar base to the occupier tank, just height wise closer to the AT-ST model we already have.

It's important to make a distinction here. The 18 meters long is the LAAT/i, the one that transports infantry. The one that carries the AT-TE is the LAAT/c which apparently is 28,82 meters long.

No way that is that big the scale doesn't work if you look at the cockpit. It's not 10 meters longer than the other

Regardless of what we "think", ffg is still bound by what they can get past LFL. I remember early in xwings cycle the issue came up in an interview (I think it was regarding the cr90) and they stated for the most part they abide by what they are given by the star wars team (+/- some scaling in some places) and the issue became they were given figures to workoff that conflict with other sources.

Another example is the HWK-290, which is listed as being pretty big like a medium freighter, but if you go back and look at its first appearance in Dark Forces its about the size of a Y-Wing. So FFG got the go ahead to use a scale that was revised downwards.

That's the thing though there is not a single reference stating that the ATTE is that large except for starwars.com everything that has ever been written about it has it closer to 13 or 14 meters. You cannot tell me that an ATTE is 3 occupier tanks long or to and a half AATs. It's just not that big and nothing on screen or in any source book ever says it is

According to Star Wars complete cross-sections the AT-TE hull is 13.2m long, 5.7m wide with a height of 5.7m. I think a legion scale model based on those dimensions is possible, but I could see it being limited to grand armies.

i like the discussion above, but all of these types of topics (whether Armada, X-wing, Legion, or how tall is Bossk when he's wearing his Tuxedo) make me think that there is no standard, or it is routinely flaunted and abused based on whichever media presentation you are watching. The comics are different than the big screen which is different than the cartoons, which is different than...you get it.

Am I the only one picturing a single unit sized base per foot? Because if not, try it on for size. It's pretty funny.

Like a speeder bike base?

Similar, but 3 times as long, right? Even people who decide the official size is wrong are still coming up with lengths 2-2.5 times that of the Occupier for the AT-TE.
