You reckon? From what I read most people were guessing Acclimator for Core Set, which I’m guessing would mean Venator in Wave 2, and W2’s not planned till Q1 next year, so I’d guess its design isn’t set in stone yet,

I wasn’t really serious mind you, I doubt FFG care what I think (and obviously I’m going to buy a couple regardless - although I’d buy more if there were closed and open variants)! 😛

I find the long hangar doors on Venators a bit frustrating. They designed this carrier-based starship, with massive hangar doors on the sides, a smaller one at the front, a big hangar opening going downwards, and on many of them a hangar door on the top . And then they just decided to make the whole top part open up instead of using any of that...

It comes across as someone designing the ship at the concept art level, and then someone later in production coming along and saying "hey, let's make the whole top part be giant, impractical doors, that would look neat if completely different from anything we've ever seen in Star Wars ship design, particularly Star Destroyer stuff."

I'm not an expert, nor particularly knowledgeable about such things, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the time taken to produce the average Armada kit is about 2 years from initial work till it hits the shelves.

Except the SSD though...

ISD's are practical! Except for the bridge. And the shield/sensor domes. And the broadside guns on a triangular shape....So...nevermind..

Broadside guns on the triangle would actually make sense if they followed the slope of the triangle and placed further forward of the bridge, then they could fire forward with all guns and with greater arc coverage..

Well I mean the whole triangular shape with distinct tops and bottoms doesn’t really make sense in 3D space, rather than on a plane. Nor do windows when screens and holograms exist. So the bridge is of course absurd.
