Torrents and proton rockets, anyone made it work?

By Pa Weasley, in X-Wing

I love Torrents ... and I want to like proton rockets. I've mucked about with smoothing the two together with some pretty eh results. This feels like it should be a useful, cheap one-shot hammer but the I can't seem to overcome the limitation of the ship and missile combined. The main approaches seem to be either joust in mass or take a pair with a higher initiative Jedi and battle mediation. So has anyone else managed to get this pairing to work for them?

Tucker with Proton Rockets is a decent 36 points, and thanks to his pilot ability very easily feeding him the focus he needs, you can either improve his survivability by taking an Evade or really push the threat of the Prockets with a Lock. It's not the most efficient way of spending points, but having tried it in a couple of games he's enough of a threat to not be easily ignored.

I second Tucker, who is a very fun Prockets carrier who frequently surprises foes. They know about his ability, but he's not necessarily on their mind as they deal with the larger threats on the table. With the option to lock, roll into position, or evade, and then get a free focus before his shot, he's great for just planting into position and waiting for something to drop into that bullseye (or if they fly init 1 vultures etc, he can be proactive and roll into position).

And a lock+focus prockets shot is terrifying from anyone. The little unassuming init 2 torrent? Harbinger of Doom.
