Hello, All:

I wanted to see if anyone was interested in a Tabletop Simulator X-Wing Tournament. I know that there are a lot of them currently due to the social distancing.

My local store in Muncie, IN (Atomic Comics) is a relatively small store but still stocks a decent amount of X-wing merch, purchases the FFG prize kit, and holds a world's ticket invite tournament. Our local X-wing player base is modest, but we also get a lot of players from surrounding areas. Our store is in trouble, and they have been putting posts on Facebook asking people to continue purchasing through the store. They have set up a curbside pickup, and last Friday a few of us went and tried to spend a few bucks. The owner, a great guy, was distraught and shared with me that he was needing money just to cover the utility bills, etc. There are long delays, but he has already applied for small business relief from the state... which he'll see in the next COUPLE OF MONTHS... eye roll. Lol.

My thought was to help them with a TTS Tournament. I was thinking $12 entry and for every 2 people signing up, I'd include a $20 ship as a prize (your choice if you're a winner). So, basically you pay $12 and you have a 50/50 chance of getting a ship. If we have 80 people, 40 will get ships; if we have 2 people, 1 will get a ship... lol. Basically just a funner way to purchase ships from the store, and to also include some X-wing games. I'll cover any remaining shipping costs and taxes as my tribute to the shop, and I'll fire up a discord and tabletop.to event to keep track of the tournament. I was thinking standard Swiss, cut to top depending on number of people, and a round is every 2-3 days. I’ll include links to PayPal and discord later.

Also, he has about 4-5 1e ships half-off. I'm going to purchase those to give out as Last Place Prizes.

And I thought I'd also take a poll, too. What format would you like? Would you want to do something quirky? Or normal?

Guns For Hire - 150 pt lists (S&V excluded) with a randomly assigned pre-set S&V ship assigned to your squad each game.

It's a top idea and this sort of thing might be a way for quite a few stores to add a bit to their finances.

However, it won't raise enough cash without the store having a decent income stream to cover the bills every day and every week.

They will need to do as much online sales as they can, and defer all ongoing expenses. And all too many will still go bust. 😞

I'm already in several events on TTS so I can't join this one, but add a PayPal link and you might well get some more support.

This sounds like a good idea! I would defiantly participate. As for the format, I think that you should do the Extended format. I love this idea. Please keep us posted with any info!
