Post your favourite Aces High builds!

By Ryuneke, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm playing a lot of Aces High lately and wanted to create this thread to share your favourite builds.

We mainly focused on 75 points ships.

My Top 3 - 75 points

3. "Pure Sabacc" + Snap Shot + Fifth Brother + Proximity Mines + Shield Upgrade /

Snap Shot is really strong on this one.

2. Kavil + Expert Handling + Dorsal Turret + Proton Torpedoes + Han Solo + R4 Astromech + Contraband Cybernetics /

Double modded Proton Torp. with a strong turret attack at I5.

1. Anakin Skywalker + R2-A6 + Calibrated Laser Targeting /

My favourite Ship. R2-A6 is so strong at I6 and helps lining up the bullseye

My Top 2 - 50 points

2. Lieutenant Kestal + Lone Wolf + Ion Cannon Turret + Barrage Rockets /

Yeah, an Aggressor. But Kestal is basically "Midnight" with a Turret and Rockets. Lone Wolf is necessary to get the most out of her ability.

1. Zizi Tlo + Lone Wolf + Crack Shot + Advanced Optics /

It's Zizi.

As a scum single faction player...

75 points:

Captain Nym + Dorsal Turret + Veteran Turret Gunner + Cluster Mines + Proximity Mines

Trandoshan Slaver + unkar Plutt + Lando Calrissian (Scum) + Han Solo (Scum) + Deadman's Switch

50 points:

Talonbane

Talonbane Cobra (50)
Lone Wolf (5)
Proton Rockets (7)
Inertial Dampeners (5)
Contraband Cybernetics (2)
Afterburners (6)

All about damage and not living a long time. Kill, Die, get your charges back, and repeat. Boost, focus, range 1 six dice proton rocket :). If someone lands in your bullseye, pop contraband and dampners to stay put while grabbing a focus for the proton rocket shot.

Palob Godalhi (40)
Debris Gambit (4)
Lando Calrissian (8)
Contraband Cybernetics (2)
Engine Upgrade (2)
Moldy Crow (18)

Focus tokens stored up + evade + lots of ships to steal tokens for some lando rerolls.

Kavil (43)
Expert Handling (2)
Dorsal Turret (3)
Proton Torpedoes (13)
Han Solo (10)
R4 Astromech (2)
Contraband Cybernetics (2)

Just a beast.

With rotating initiative, a Probomb, DMS Bounty Hunter is practically cheating 🙂

Notsomuch when damage from those upgrades is ruled out, but 0-0-0, CC is a good swap.

My favorite:

75 point build:

New Squadron

(46) Graz [Kihraxz Fighter]
(2) Contraband Cybernetics
(4) Cloaking Device
(4) Ion Missiles
(6) Shield Upgrade
(6) Afterburners
(5) Lone Wolf

(31) Genesis Red [M3-A Interceptor]
(6) Afterburners

Nice.

I took this Graz for a 70pt game, but nobody ended up playing aces high. So, for a laugh, I ran him in a 200pt game with Kad and Old T instead....

Didn't work out so great, with AS Guri on the other side 😄

(46) Graz [Kihraxz Fighter]
(4) Cloaking Device
(2) Contraband Cybernetics
(6) Afterburners
(6) Shield Upgrade
(6) Outmaneuver
Points: 70

New Squadron

(44) "Pure Sabacc" [TIE/sk Striker]
(8) Cluster Mines
(11) Fifth Brother
(6) Shield Upgrade
(7) Snap Shot
Points: 76

Total points: 76

For the 75 points one:

"Whisper" (57)
Crack Shot (1)
Fifth Brother (11)
Stealth Device (6)

Ship total: 75 Half Points: 38 Threshold: 3

This guy can survive attack after attack without losing the stealth device if you are a bit lucky (and avoid 4 dice shots). It would be great to have lone wolf, and for an 80 points ace it would be brutal, but crackshot is something, you can expect to have bullseye on somebody without even trying.

For 50 points I find it way more difficult to think of a favorite. I will go for this one:

Anakin Skywalker (N-1 Starfighter) (41)
Crack Shot (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Adv. Proton Torpedoes (6)

Ship total: 50 Half Points: 25 Threshold: 3

I think Anakin in the N1 is both fun to play and good enough, with repositioning abilities, action economy from the targeting computer and extra damage from the torpedoes and crackshot.

That genesis red looks good for the 50 points category 😃

Regen is not good in Aces High.

Just had a 3 way game at home with this. My favoured Zuckuss build translates nicely. Added cargo but didn't really get to make use of it, would probably swap it out for something else. With more points, that would probably be CC and 0-0-0, since we tend to go 70pt, but Maul would be good at 75pt. Other 2 ships were 67pt, so we stuck with that as the limit.

The real beauty of it in this format is that you can Baffle for days, without much fear.

(45) Zuckuss [G-1A Starfighter]
(4) Rigged Cargo Chute
(2) Electronic Baffle
(10) Advanced Sensors
(4) Trick Shot
(1) Mist Hunter
Points: 66

I have been wanting to try this out at Aces high, also thinking of dropping the Shield for Auto blaster.

4Lom [G-1A Starfighter]

  • Lando
  • Shield
  • Adv Sensors
  • Fearless
  • Title

Lando to turn a calc into pseudo-lock seems ok, but I wonder if it's not just better to lock and get a red maneuver calc to back it up... the flexibility is nice though.

I mean, replace lando and shield with maul and not only do you get better mods, for 4lom it can sometimes be advantageous to take the stress from maul, and the threat of that interaction is a great head game for the table "you sure you want to shoot 4lom? I'll take a stress and give it back to you."

Cerebrawl, I like your thinking there, this version is one I flew in a normal squad. I unfortunately have not had any Aces High experience yet.

Proton torp advanced sensors redline :)

I've never played aces high, so I am just curious, why do you say you can baffle for days?

Running down your own health doesn't matter that much in Aces High, you respawn anyway. There really is no limit to how much you can baffle.

Yeah this. 9hp is quite a lot in the format, with respawning, you can afford to go pretty all in 😄

Regen is fine if you have action economy to do it. If Nien has a existing lock on some one, the he can PA focus-boost clear stress and R5 action.

I have a ball with this list:

Take a Seat

(5) R4-P17
(18) Delta-7B
(3) Brilliant Evasion
(4) Spare Parts Canisters
