Skirmish - Returning player question

By VAYASAN, in Star Wars: Legion

Hi all. Returning player here with a query re Skirmish. I was very active on here early on for Legion (posted lots of pics of painted stuff and terrain) but just been too busy. Now, I find myself with more time on my hands like many around the world.....

So I see Skirmish is a thing. Except for new cards and a smaller Table/Army...are other things the same? One thing niggling my mind is the Princess Leia ability (forget its name...co ordinated bombardment?) on one of her cards. It was a large attack. Does this not be very make things unbalanced with the smaller armies?

Does the command card system work the same in Skirmish, standing orders then 2 of each pip? Seems over the top for the smaller games? I didnt see anything about it in a quick rules check?

Thanks all.

For me, that's the joy of skirmish is that some things are way better than they should be and some are not as effective. My Wookiees and Fleet troopers routinely trounce all opposition. Big nasty heroes like Vader literally destroy armies. Some command cards that were really powerful do not have as much effect as they used to and vice versa.

Fair enough. Will be playing vs the wife while we are locked in....so didnt want to ruin the game by smashing herwith an overpowered card I shouldnt be using hehe.

The other advantage of Skirmish is you can play a game in about 40 mins so if something doesn't work, you can wrap up and restart or substitute a different unit, etc.

One other difference aside from what you listed is that the allowances for each unit type have been reduced. Everything has its maximum allowance reduced by 1, except Corps which are 2-4 instead of 3-6.

Welcome back! I remember your paintings. Skirmish has: Smaller armies, 3x3 battlefield, different setup cards, and only 5 rounds instead of 6. Other than that, it's the same.
