What do you think another core trooper unit could be for the Galactic Republic? I know they already have Phase 1 and Phase 2 but can't think of any other types they would make. Perhaps Airborne and Jet Troopers? What do you think?

That would be a sure way to get me to start a clone army. I know they're just specialized clone troopers but the same can be said of the Galactic Empire Snow Troopers (which by the way in the old lore were originally derived from the Galactic Marines). They could movement 1 and steady special time like Empire Snow Troopers but better basic weapons (DC-15) and better heavy weapon upgrades.

Yeah, I think Republic Galactic Marines would be my bet.

Gungans are valid option from canon, as are a broader "Planetary militia" type unit.

I could see something like planetary militia to represent non clones fighting cis. Especially because a ryloth twilek rebel unit could pair well with a geonosian unit as a release.

This is 100% my guess as well

Like others have said Galactic Marines could be a possibility. The Clone Wars tv show has shown us other possible options like Aqua Clone Troopers, hey we got snow troopers, which could mirror with Aqua Droids. Also Gungans have fought the CIS a handful of times, even brought down Grevious. Republic and CIS have a few native species that could arguably be corps: Gungans, Umbarans, Mon Calamari, Quarren, Geonosians, Wookies, and so on.

I also think Senate Guards have a chance

Senate Guards were fancy policemen or mall cops (think swiss guard, the guys that stand outside Buckingham palace etc) i would suspect they would show up as special forces rather than corps. Wookiee corps would be awesome but unlikely. I would suspect some variant of clone like the marine above or may be something we've seen quite a lot of in the media like Gungams or Naboo palace guard. You never know though. I would not have suspected mandalorians to show up especially not on the side of the rebels

Considering this image, and some others, probably cold clones, under similar rules as the Snowtroopers, and an excuse for a flame projector (even though that guy was in a warm suit, whatever they look the same modelling department!). Could do the ol' "Phase I"/"Phase II" alternate heads for synergy.

Non-clones could easily be gungan volunteers or a variety of other units.

Images aren't necessarily indicative of future model releases anymore. I've noticed FFG has started re-using art from RPG books and other sources. They are certainly a possibility.

I feel like this article would be a good place to pick stuff from actually as a prospective player alot of items in here would be great to have not even from gameplay know How but more rule of cool. For example id love to see flame troopers, and riot troopers for core. While slightly off topic for special forces slots id love to see paratroopers and shadow troopers once again more rule of cool than anything

I think that Galactic Marines are a possibility but I think we are more likely to see Cold Assault Clones next, since they could be an in-between Phase 1s and Phase 2s in terms of cost at 56 points to the P2's 60.

I will be willing to bet money on Gungans for Republic and Geonosians for CIS.

Not that it matters for your point, but the Swiss guard defend the Vatican. Beef eaters defend British royalty.

I think the Nabbo Royal guards are a possibility. It'd add some variety to the Republic

I love the idea of adding republic galactic marines to Legion. But a full unit with DC-15 would be a little too powerful for a core unit. I think it would be a very interesting option to add as a special or heavy option, maby with a clone rocket launcher as the "heavy weapon".

That was a typo, I was typing on my cell. It should have said DC-15A blaster rifle (same standard weapon as clone phase 1 and 2)

Fair enough, I was going off the posted picture. That being said an infantry unit with all DC-15's as a heavy choice would be an interesting unit.

Possibly, there are options on shapeways for those that want it. The ones I found were "purgetrooper" helmets, but it's the same helmet in canon, so...

Galactic Marines I think are likely for a core unit, DC-15 and Flamethrower as heavy weapon, Senate commandos as Special forces as well. I'd expect republic commandos eventually but something a bit more elite, à la Inferno squad/clan wren with multiple heavy weapon/named options.
