Help with The Division setting

By Seam, in Genesys

I am working on a setting for The Division. Everything that is possible in the video games is covered by the GENESYS rules, I think, and no major tweaks must be done.

Something from the video games though is special and I want to introduce it to the setting so it makes it somewhat oustanding and different from other settings.

In short these are brands or sets which essentially work the same. If a character wears 2 weapon/armor/gear of a specific brand / set the character gets one benefit or another. Another gear / brand item gives another benefit (brands), and sometimes there is even a fourth item (sets). Until now I am toying with using up Hard Points for it, but am not sure.

Does anyone have a nice idea how to tweak that mechanic into the GENESYS rules? It should only be a gimmick and nothing game changing, but the players should recognize it somehow.

I would hesitate to implement a set system in Genesys, simply because it would be a considerable departure from the way the game handles weapon and armor.

Branding , however, could work like the weapon material rules from Realms of Terrinoth.

Genesys is my favorite system overall, but it's a terrible system for telling some kinds of stories, especially gritty / dark / gear-heavy ones.

Honestly, Starfinder or Shadowrun might be better calls.
