So, my usual disclaimer about being new to X-Wing, yadayada.
I’ve been snapping up good eBay deals and discounted 1.0 stuff, and Conversion Kits. And when I say “I,” I mean I’m kind of buying for me and my playgroup of 3-4 other guys.
“Everything is proceeding as I had foreseen,” in the words of everyone’s favorite galactic tyrant. Our Rebel, Imperial, Resistance, First Order, and Scum fleets are coming along quite nicely. But I recently ordered a 1.0 Most Wanted pack, a 1.0 Hound’s Tooth, and a 1.0 HWK-290, and something occurred to me that I hadn’t thought to ask...
Is there anything weird (other than aesthetic concerns) about flying (for example) a Rebel Z-95 in a Scum list, and calling it the Nashtah Pup? Or using the Most Wanted Y-Wing in a Rebel list and calling it Dutch? Is it “tournament legal” to use ships with the “wrong” paint jobs, but “correct” chassis and cards? Can I use Black Sun Soldier-painted Z-95s from the Most Wanted pack in a Rebel list, as Blount and Cracken? For that matter, could I use a Resistance YT-1300 as a Rebel YT-1300, and vice-versa?
Especially given that people custom-paint all sorts of things in this game, I can’t imagine anyone having an issue with this, but I figured I’d ask. I mean, I guess I can use a TIE Fighter (or multiple TIE Fighters) with the basic Imperial paint in a Rebel list and (with my Rebel Conversion Kit cards) run them as Zeb and Sabine, right? Or do people look askance at that sort of thing?
