Our first Clone Wars rules question. Kenobi & Brace

By Mad Cat, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

My Republic ship has just taken 8 Damage to the nose from some evil Separatist vessel. No accuracies were rolled and I have both a brace and a readied redirect available.

Kenobi is my commander and I use both the Brace & Redirect to move the damage to the port shield. So.….

Is it 8 Damage redirect becomes 7 and then brace becomes 4 shield damage?

Or

Is it 8 Damage Braced to 4 and then redirected resulting in 3 shield damage?

8 -> 4 -> 3. While you can spend brace and redirect tokens in an order of your choosing, the key here is when Kenobi's effect resolves: before a friendly ship suffers damage.

Brace reduces damage "after the damage is totaled."

And damage must be totaled before it can be suffered, so "after totaling damage" must precede "before suffering damage."

Yup, as mentioned. have to total damage before it can be suffered. So 8, Brace to 4, Kenobi to 3.

Agreeing with Karnek & J-wook. 8->4->3.
