GCW - 0 to 8

By LTD, in Star Wars: Armada

Hi folks -

I am gauging interest in a vassal comp where the battles escalate over a series of weeks, starting with wave 0 and ending up with 8.

Players would pick a side, then play a game against any other side’s player over vassal (or TTS) reporting the outcome.

For the first week, only the ships and upgrades in the core box can be used - second week, wave one, third week wave three, and so on.

Thoughts, feelings, interest?

While I won't participate, this sounds awesome!

The only thing is...wave Thor ...

And also, where does CC fit in?

Current FAQ rules?

This sounds like fun!

I am interested.

Yeah, we’d stick with the revised versions of rules, as much as I love the old TRCs.

But... Rhymer!

How can you faithfully recreate wave 2 without Rhymer and Demo at full strength? Or wave Thor without Reeikan 2+3?

On second thought....

Use the FAQ.

You mean the photographic proof that Alderaan shot first?

Clearly, Alderaan was waving a giant lightsaber at that innocent battle station. It got what it deserved!

I am interested! Will the Wave 0 games be at 300 or 400 points?

Edit: Actually, I'll probably have a hard time playing every week. But if anyone wants to practice their tournament fleet for that week, I'd be happy to play some Tarkin Vics or Screed Raiders (if I'm available).

Sounds fun. I’m down

Bump.

If you would like to play, indicate in this thread and choose your allegiance.

I fight for FREEDOM FROM OPPRESSION. I stand with (what's left of) Alderaan.

Who will join me in the REBEL ALLIANCE OF PLANETS?

Wave 0 battles start this week - find an opponent and play a 400 point battle (or more! I'm not your boss).

Upgrades are limited to:

{Technically the Corvette and Nebulon and Victory packs are part of wave 1? Really? I THINK NOT}

I am interested! I'll be playing as the Imperials.

I’m in with rebels

Shouldn’t the Assault Frigate and Gladiator be there as well?

Those are Wave 1. We're on Wave 0. The VSD, Neb-B, and CR90 expansions are included here because those ships were in the Core Set.

Mm. I’m curious if the wave 1 Demolisher is still the insane wrecking ball with errata

Bump for interest?

I'm in as rebels! I heard there were a few corvettes lying in a junkyard we could use.

Welcome on board. We have Corvettes aplenty... and plenty of targets as well!

So, from what I gather, the players are:

1) Me (Imps)
2) @LTD (Rebels)
3) @MandalorianMoose (Rebels)
4) @JolliGreenGiant (Rebels)
5) @Bertie Wooster (Maybe? He may have dropped in his sign-up post. . .)

Assuming Bertie isn't participating, that makes 4 players. I think we're each playing all the other players, so we each will have 3 games per wave, though clearly the scheduling will be rather relaxed.

LTD and I just finished our game, I won 188 to 175, write up and log will come soon.

Also (and LTD can correct me if I am wrong) lists obviously will chance wave to wave, but they can also change battle to battle within a wave. Faction is unchanging though.

It's less of a tournament, more of a challenge. Rebs vs Imps.

Rather than round-robin with each other player, just find someone on the other side to have a battle with. If there is no enemy player, then a reb or imp can swap sides to make a battle happen. Of course, I only ever play as Rebels, so yeah, nah.

But more players are obviously welcome! I think it's fun playing with just the old stuff. Very reminiscent of an earlier time, when life was simple, and more... elegant?
