Clone Wars Upgrades!
So this thread started with an announcement about cards for clone wars, descended into a discussion of kerning, font size and alignment, and now we’re doing bad lip readings? Are we trying to make this the worst thread ever? 🤪

No! We do! Or do not. There is no try.

You obviously never saw the x-wing thread for the last Jedi.

Oh god, I can only imagine what that was like...

I haven’t been on this forum for ages (GW snared me and thats where my moneys been going) but I do remember the x-wing forums having a reputation for being a bit toxic. Nothing compared to the very beginning of the legion forum though

You mean there were people who actually defended TLJ? 🤨
Well... that was a long time ago.
I suppose the one positive thing that came from the Sequel Travesty: It gave us greater appreciation for the Prequel Trilogy. 😄

It was actually worse than you would think. People were arguing about it before it even came out. We were arguing about the ships we saw in the visual dictionary. I still stand by my words though: the Interdictor is a female ship and no one can tell me different

All ships are female.
This one is just designed to make the Rebels slow down.
Just wondering, is there an official announcement in the news for these cards? I can't see one..

The “official” announcement was the first post on this thread. It’s coming directly from FFG. But no, I don’t think they posted any sort of preview article on the website.

Since this thread could barely get any worse, I’ll bite... TLJ was a really good Star Wars film. Not like ESB or Rogue One good, but miles better than AotC, for example.
Discuss. >:)

One does not follow the other.
But I agree with you that TLJ is somewhere above AOTC (and somewhere below Sharknado 3: Oh **** No! )
...I guess one ...could... argue that constitutes "really good," but where does TLJ fit in your ranking of the movies?
That determines whether or not it's a really good Star Wars film, after all.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo. We were doing so well ignoring the emo teenager!
I'm just pleased that Disney is now indirectly acknowledging that TLJ and TRoS were rancid trash piles. I love hearing and reading the stories about how PO'd Roundhead Rian and Kathleen Kennedy are because George Lucas is back and he's working hard to undo all the damage they did to Star Wars. Can you believe it that Kennedy's plan for the High Republic was to have NO WARS in Star Wars!?! 🙄
I'm delighted to admit that Roundhead Rian and Kathleen Kennedy's anger and humiliation is pure Schadenfreude for me. 😈
The legacy of Roundhead Rian and Kathleen Kennedy is FAILURE. Sweet irony!
Meanwhile, I'm pleased that Mark Hamill will be returning to portray Luke Skywalker in Season 3 of The Mandalorian. Mark Hamill deserves this opportunity to depict Luke as he should be portrayed. I can't wait to see Luke in his prime as a Jedi Master.

Hmm... in the cold light of day, maybe I don’t want to have this discussion after all. 🙂
There are basically four kinds of Star Wars films for me:
Masterpieces (ESB, Rogue One),
Very Good Star Wars Films Which I Enjoy Very Much, While Acknowledging That They Are Flawed & Imperfect (most of the rest),
Not Very Good Star Wars Films Which At Least Have Ewan McGregor & Possibly Even Liam Neeson In Them (TPM, RotS, which both actually become more enjoyable if you watch them in a foreign language, the dialogue is so poorly written), and
The Crime Against Humanity That Is Attack of the Clones (or as I like to call it, “Inappropriate Emotional Response: The Movie.” I think it was secretly directed by Tommy Wiseau). I mostly watch AotC for the action scenes. Which makes me really sad, because that’s the film where we should be learning to love Anakin as a hero (setting us up for the disastrous turn to the Dark Side in RotS). Instead I end up just wishing he’d taken some acting classes.
TLJ was good. It was fun, it was surprising, it took some chances, and most of the good guys (especially Poe and Luke) made big mistakes through most of the film, and I think, subconsciously, that this is precisely why a lot of people hated it. It’s why I was initially troubled by it, and it took me a little while to realize it: The most (for me, and for like 80% of Star Wars fans) relatable hero characters in it are the middle-aged white guys (Poe, Luke), and they’re just wrong throughout the whole movie. Literally everything they do turns out to be a pretty bad choice. I think that on some level, that really shook the mostly 30-, 40-, and 50-something mostly white, mostly male fans, and stirred up a lot of angst. Watching Luke Skywalker screw up is like the disillusionment of realizing that your parents aren’t superheroes. It’s *uncomfortable*. It made me uncomfortable... the first time through. The second time, after I’d sat with it, thought about it, and had time to reflect on my own insecurities... I loved it.
But that’s just me. I hear some people don’t like it, and they don’t need to. 🙂

I know. What have I done? I take it back. I was drinking and posting!

Thanks for the new title being added to my own personal lexicon.
I'm sure I used up most of my likes on this thread alone. Thanks everyone.
On a slightly related note, I like to think Admiral Nelson is somewhere building walls of text. Climbing over a concrete wall was easier than getting through one of his posts! 😉

Armada fleets easily can cover a lot of space with the mini upgrades... standard size will be a cluster and all online is garbage in my opinion... I want the physical cards there.
I would not be thrilled with standard size upgrade cards, but it's not a deal breaker for me, especially if we get card only booster packs, including corrected reprints of erratas. I would probably just print my own mini versions to save table space.
Digital only upgrades, on the other hand would probably keep me from buying into a Armada 2.0. Probably because I can still print mini cards for everything, but unless I find 2.0 a superior game, why bother. I'm old school, the core needs to include everything I need to play the game, minus what is included in booster packs. It shouldn't matter if I open it now, or 10 years after the game is out of print. Anything less is an inferior product.
On the plus side, I actually have great hope for Armada, CW, GCW, and 2.0. FFG still makes some of the best games ever printed. They also have horrible communication skills when it comes to their fan base, but at least provide these forums for us to chat.
I take the good with the bad.
My biggest hope for CW Armada is that it allows for a competitive three Venator list.
