5th trooper stream

By Tirion, in Star Wars: Legion

Did anyone watch this?

what was spoiled?

That I was not aware of:

Tristan Wren (38 points)

Mandalorian Reistance Only

2 Black dice at range 1-3

Lethal 1

Supressive

2 hit points

Gideon Hask (38 points)

Can go at the same squads than Del Meeko

2 Red dice at range 1-3

Courage increased by 1

You gain coordinate: trooper

Leader

2 hit points

is it just me or is tristan hot trash?

It's pricy enough... but we don't know what the base unit does, so... we'll have to wait and see.

In comparison, Gideon looks way better.

I mean, if Mandos are normally say, 1 wound with Impervious/Red, and Tristan is 2 wounds, that's pretty good. Lethal probably depends on the Aim tokens (Duelist needs them too, after all) but Suppressive is not something rebels are crawling with. I expect Tristan is to be compared with Del though, since they have similar dice and keywords.

Hask is definitely way more immediately useful for his faction, being that he increases Courage and acts as a leader, plus has a 2 Red gun for no gosh-darned reason, and coordinate, but we don't know the base unit setups. And we don't know what Ursa Wren does, she's probably more parallel to Hask.

Feels like these special forces will overshadow any previous ones in options and crazy new upgrades. Still not gonna replace snipers, but they look crazy

Are the Madalorians special forces confirmed for sure? Probably..

What if they have gunslinger or tactical 1, that would make a big difference on Tristan.

That's true we can't make any judgement on them as of yet not knowing any keywords

It may well be they are over pricing the mando add-on's because of the rocket packs upgrade as well...

We'll have to wait and see.

Doesn’t seem great compared to Gideon, but maybe Ursa will be killer. Tristan just doesn’t feel like he’s going to fit into a unit that will almost certain be range 2 and probably wants to get into melee. Any multi wound model is going to be really powerful though. So just keeping one of the mandos alive for an extra hit might be worth it. The fact that the inferno dudes can go in cores though makes them a lot more flexible, in addition to being really good.

Gideon on shores seems crazy good (even if you lose the t21). It creates a 4 for 1 order. You could even run HQ uplink in his unit for 4 for 0.

They almost have to have tactical or target.

The forum here is weird when it comes to files, so I can’t post the other. 😕 A9585AB8-89A7-40BF-9FA1-ED9074DEE9AE.jpeg

Okay, this upgrade raises a question. If I have Shortroopers with both Gideon Hask (Heavy Weapon slot) and Imperial Officer (personnel slot), who is the unit leader?

I guess you can't take both since there can be only one leader.

Makes sense. They'll probably have a rules update to that effect before the unit comes out.

The other thing I'm thinking about: If I assign the first wound that a unit takes on Gideon and after that they take a second wound in another attack...who do I assign the wound to? By rules it has to be the already wounded mini (Gideon) but on the other hand he is the leader and has to die last (except through LoS shenanigans).

Or am I not allowed to assign wounds to him (as long as there are other minis in the unit) in the first place because he is the leader?

I'd go with scenario 2 as raw, but we'll see.

Is it not the same as for the wookies? You can assign damage to the leader only at last. Am I wrong? I understand Gideon will remains with two hit points until he is the last one to stand

You can't assign wounds to the leader if there are other models eligible in the unit.

From page 80 of the RRG:

"The unit leader cannot be chosen to suffer wounds unless it is the only mini in the unit that is in line of sight of the attack, if it is the only wounded mini in the unit, or if it is the last mini in the unit."

EDIT: and if he would be Defeated, you then replace another model in the unit with him... From what I can tell from the current RRG, the "new" Gideon would have full health.
