First Order - Crazy Holo [Hyperspace]

By Synel, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Theorycrafting here. Started with Daredevil on Holo (Not Vonreg because Holo can recover to non-stressed next turn) but listing proud tradition here for, perhaps, more security. The secret sauce is primed thrusters, though. This could give Echo a run for her money in terms of unpredictable maneuvers. What do you think, too expensive for a 4 hp ship?

I personally think that is too expensive, also her ability can help you unload any stress she gets to allies, weather that is good or bad. Could do a k turn followed by the ship ability for a roll, if you were not already strained or depleted from last round, and then a boost. However after all that you gotta transfer either a stress or a deplete/ strain token to someone else. Maybe you give it to someone who only planned to do a blue maneuver next round or someone who isn't involved in a attack.

Also, no matter what I think Echo is still crazier, that 2 bank decloak gives you a possible 6 spots, plus a little room for 4 of them, to land in or 7 if staying cloaked. And then you got his maneuver plus barrel roll. Your opponent will likely never guess which way he will go.

Granted I have yet to fly the BA but I have heard and seen it get torn apart if it lands in a bad spot. I guess the biggest factor is if Holo's ability benefits you or screws you up badly.

I'm not sure. Holo + 4 is generally solid enough.

Only issue, then, might be Primed Thrusters. It allows for some nice wiggling after a K-Turn or S-Loop, to be sure. Is it necessary? I dunno.

It seems worthwhile to contrast with something like this:

  • Holo (Proud Tradition) 54
  • Muse (Proud Tradition) 32
  • Scorch (Fanatical) 35
  • Lieutenant Rivas (-) 27
  • Lieutenant LeHuse (Special Forces Gunner) 49

Probably has a little bit more punching power, Rivas isn't quite as reliable for time-on-target as as Zeta, but LeHuse is a consistent 3-dice gun, who can probably often have double-mods. The only time Holo loses anything is after they do a K-Turn or S-Loop, where they can't Roll or Boost.

Now, again, the main list mostly looks fine. There aren't any bad upgrades (well, maybe Primed Thrusters), and the bid isn't inappropriately large. Should be at least OK. If you're dead-set on Primed on Holo, it'll certainly be a reasonable squad to bring. But it's entirely possible Primed isn't exactly worthwhile. Who knows?
