Mechadendrite, not relly worth it?

By The Guardian of Forever, in Rogue Trader Rules Questions

Ah well that popped that bubble, though at least the MIU still seems worth having.
and being able to do 5 attacks in a round is still pretty darn good.

That would be three via lightning, one by dual-wielding and one mechadendrite attack?

and I suppose I never looked at it that way for the servo-arm, I suppose I could say
that since the magos can get unnatural strength the servo-arm can be made redundant
but since they only get it at rank 16 its not really worth argueing.

Depending whether your Magos goes for melee or ranged combat, there may also simply be no reason to buy strength upgrades which have severe xp costs after all. So you can simply stay at a cozy 40 or so strength, but gain the 65*2 for purposes of heavy lifting. Combine that with Unnatural Toughness and it's actually hard not to go off the lifting weights table. Hopefully Deathwatch will provide for a longer list.

overall Im not very happy with how they did the magos in ascension. I also didn't like all the vindicare worship eithe

As long as you heed the Online Enhancement that notes Magoi get to replace Fellowship requirements with Intelligence, they're pretty fine.

For the Vindicare... the only fix he needs IMO is the note that the Temple Assassin trait does not take into account Unnatural Agility. Put an Unnatural Ability into those careers that don't have them at present (stormtrooper and crusader, IIRC) and you're pretty much set. Other than that, remember that the Vindicare's personal abilities are the only thing he has going for him. Sure, the Vindicare can easily kill most people with a single bullet. So can the stormtrooper - only his bullet is a little larger and fired from a Basilisk Earthshaker by the artillery company he requisitioned.

Lifting is only the first half of the fun. The REAL fun starts at the throwing part of the table. I'm personally looking forward to the first kill by thrown motorcykle.

Motorcycles? BAH! As any Vampire player knows Potence replaces all other Disciplines ( and politics too if in Finland angel.gif ). Why bother with something so mundane as a bike when you could be throwing cars gui%C3%B1o.gif .

Potence? Do you not mean the most sovereign gift of the blood known as Beat-aturgy, sir? The best "use" of Potence duplicating another discipline in a game was for Chimestry. It was preceded by the character stating in a deadpan tone "I can make you see stars."

partido_risa.gif Well played! Other common applications of Potence-for-other Discipline:

Some Nossie playing hide and seek inside a warehouse? Feth Auspex! Hit the floor/walls REALLY hard. Being invisible will not help him much when the building collapses on top of him.

Need to get on the roof? I don´t need some stinking Thaumaturgy for levitation!

For those of the audience unfamiliar with Vampire, sorry for the OT. We will now resume the regular program.

Getting cybernetics and other "enhancements" is hardly a problem for an Explorator (or Tech Priest in DH). You got Trade(Armorer) which means you can go and make just about anything in your character could have the information on how to make, at least when coupled with other skills such as Medicae.

Buy 'dendrites... pfft, make em yourself. An Explorator is way above a lowly Enginseer, so getting ahold of that necessary info is much easier. Couple that with the fact that Explorators are more likely to succumb to the heresy of invention, only your own imagination sets the limit... oh and your GMs generosity...

And the higher your rank, the more fun schematics you can gain access to... not to mention actually making stuff yourself is basically a negligible cost in RT, and not a very heavy drain even in DH.

And 'dendrites is totally worth it... if only for the cool factor... Remember that "best" quality 'dendrites need not look like the ones depicted in the RT and DH books, they can be sleek metal tentacles with the good stuff hidden in the tips.

We were always dig fans of using it instead of Celerity when it came to long distance travel. "Why run when you can jump several miles at a time" Man, i miss my old Brujah...

I've played or run with a techpriest in everygame of DH (none of my players are interested in RT, as they feel its just a less interesting version of playign a Tramp Freighter owner via Traveller or Star Wars) and by far the most popular advancements are the Dendrite advances. Why? Its very hard to remove the robotenticles from the Techpriest, but making him leave his carry all bag full of stuff at the door is ocmmon practice when moving about High Society. Sure, by the time you get the Utility dendrite you'll probably have a combitool or 3, but you can't always carry it with you.
