Exchange rules for cybernetics

By donmanolito, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey...

Are there any rules to exchange a cybernetic limb like a arm? Is it still the same skill check or anything else? My thought is that you might just need a mechanics check because the physical to cybernetics "interface" is already made. Not sure if this is like I think, I just ask out of couriostity.

May the force be with you... 😄

It is not covered specifically, but the same rules would apply. It would still be a Hard Medicine check to install it. It would not be too unreasonable for a GM to decrease that difficulty or switch it to Mechanics though.

Also, Beyond the Rim suggests (which deals with cybernetics a bit more) that you could create a custom skill, "Cybernetics (Intellect)" for this purpose.

I use Medicine for checks involving the installation/removal of cybernetics and Mechanics for building/repairing/modifying the cybernetic device. It is quite possible to be skilled at either without necessarily being skilled in both, but a high Intellect obviously helps with both.

In Special Modifications, it says that you should use Medicine for installation, and suggests adding a Cybernetics skill.
