SDD + Onager Snipe

Hi guys!

I was playing around a "Tank" and "Snipe" build. The main thought is that the SSD is gonna tank and stay as frontliner. Ditching out a whole lot of dices is already scary. The flagship is the onager, who obviously stays behind (or in cover) the SSD and snipes at extreme range. Wulff Yularen, might be an odd pick on the Onager, but to get consinstently the fire command tokens for Cataclysm, I need a tool to get them every turn. The SSD will attract the main fire from the opponents, therefore I took 3 "defensive" Officers to keep him alive. Emperor Palpatine will stripe the defense tokens off and let the opponent rethink if he really wants to attack (like unique squadrons with single or two defense tokens). Reeva Demesne helps out with the SSD defense tokens to recover. If there are still squadrons, Quad Laser Turrets will help out with counter 1.

It is obviously weak against a heavy squadron fleet. But I know that my opponent almost never go squadron heavy.

Looks pretty solid. The only thing I would switch out is advanced gunnery: it'll have no effect on the ssd and an Onager can't ignition twice if I remember correctly so not really worth. you could find a lot of use from surprise attack as it'll put your opponent right where you want them (in the SSD front arc). Also I would recommend dropping QLTs for Ravager, the extra firepower you get from it is hella scary!

Thanks for the reply and especially about the "Surprise Attack" mission card. Its definetly something I'll switch out.

And then comes Quantum Slice or Tua Supressor, or Admo with APT and the plan falls apart. I think the SSD begs for DCO and Defense Liaison.

I would also reconsider keeping QLTs. You have no squads, so you'll need all the flak you may have. Then again, if I were your opponent I would go after the Onager and not the SSD.

this is something similar. I like sunder on onager to help out the SSD with anything that may have ecms or anything really nasty. It’s pretty decent against squads. Qlts combos with kallus. And ltts combo with him as well. Ravager still adds dice for damage output.
