Sabine and Clan Wren speculation

By BenHasaGo, in Star Wars: Legion

Hi all,

So I love the Sabine model and have put off getting it until I know I can do the paint job justice.

While I've been waiting and seeing the Clan Wren announcement it got me thinking about how in particular Sabine's 3 pip would work.

This is a wild theory but hear me out and let me know your thoughts.

Her 3 pip allows for Sabine and 2 Troopers. We now know (if the preorder info on Miniature Market is correct!) that the Clan Wren box will have 7 models and allow for The Mandalorian Resistance and Tristan and Ursa Wren to be fielded. So there's our 2 trooper options that the Command now covers.

Reading the text then got me thinking and this is a big Big BIG speculation idea here. What if when you play the Mandalorian Resistance and the other Wrens AND with Sabine equipped with the darksaber she can be upgraded to commander. It always seemed odd to me that when issuing an order to a commander she gained a token but if she could then be made a commander well it makes more sense to me!

Like I said all speculation and id love to know peoples thoughts!

She can issue orders to your Commander right now since all of the Commanders that currently exist are Troopers.

I think what they are saying is that u could run sabine as a commander if u brought all of clan wren.

I don't think they're ready for opening that bag of worms. I feel like the Wren Clan is going to be almost identical to the ARC trooper expansion (and probably the Inferno Squad expansion) in organization. There will be 2 unique models with extra wounds and keywords that can be added to the unit as a large unit 4+ or as a 2man unit (similar to the strike team squad 1+ heavy weapon/unique trooper upgrade)

You could promote any of those units to Commander if your last Commander is defeated. Or if you have Cassian as your sole Commander and use Covert Ops you could immediately promote one of the Special Forces units to Commander.

If Sabine gets a commander upgrade, i suspect it will be like the Luke/Vader agent: A second model and new command cards. I could be wrong, but if they go that route I suspect that is how they will play it.

Sabine is one of the last characters that should get a command role, much less 2 figures and command card sets. Shoot, we don't even have Ezra (star of the show) ir Hera or Kanan or chopper. We shouldn't be getting another Sabine. This is the designer's attempt (unneeded and unwarranted imho)at keeping a semblance of balance between the units within the factions since several other factions are getting Jump units. ARCs, STAP droids, clan Wren and most likely jet troopers

Funnily enough with the announcement of Mandalorian stuff coming out next year and the mention of sub-factions in the past I generally suspected that the Clan Wren pack is meant to do what you mentioned but also to let people get a non-unique mandalorian unit they can build and army with in the near future.

I could maybe see them including a new card for Sabine, or maybe new command cards, but I don’t see, anything like the OP described, happening.

True, escept ezra being the main character. I would rather see Hera and Chop, ghost squad, and of course Hondo first. This is just how I think they will do it if they ever do make her a commander. Or a pack of new command cards. I didn't think about that. Like they did for XWing.

I'm hoping we will be able to run a Rebels team list when they are all available via:

Sabine Operative

Hera Commander with Entourage Chopper Operative

Ezra Commander with Entourage Kanan Operative

Zeb Operative

Though seeing as you can't run the OT crew all together, R2+3PO, Luke, or Chewie has to sit out, they might just make it so they are all in the game but you can't field them all which will likely mean Zeb having to sit out most often.

I'm hoping that we will likely see Melee based Special Forces for Republic and CIS with their next set of commanders and that FFG uses that as a chance to add new units for Rebels and Empire then. I figure one of the Inquisitors as an operative, likely Grand Inquisitor or Second Sister, or a Purge Trooper special forces unit that comes with Jedi Hunter while the Rebels will get Kanan and Ezra.

As for new command cards I think that giving every faction a generic operative option, Bothan Spy for Rebels, ISB Agent for Empire, etc... would be the best way to add another set of three faction specific command cards to the game.

Don't get me wrong. I don't actually care for Ezra as a character, I'm just saying he had a bigger and more consistent role in the show to justify getting a model before Sabine gets a second model. I'm still waitimg for my Mercenary faction or Lando before i need to see any more Rebels characters. Actually although i didn't think the comic was that great, BT-1 Dr Aphra and triple Zero would make more interesting operatives for the Imperials than some of the things that are rumored.

I'm just teasing, in season 1 it was Space Aladdin and Bland Jedi, they both got a lot better as the show moved on but it seemed like everyone else was still more interesting. Didn't love the kid, but didn't really hate him. Everyone has a wish list, mine just happens to be getting a little shorter with that wave, I hope everyone gets the same soon. Half the reason to play this game is the characters.
