Invasion W/O Skaven?

By Curator, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

I haven't tried it myself, but I was wondering how the game would play without the skaven cards.

What army decks would see more play, which would see less?

What cards would look better without the heavy rush meta going on?

Would expensive cards see more play? Lastly do you think the armies would have more obvious themes to them?

Has anyone hosted a tourney than bans Skaven just for fun?

I am curious to see how the game would have played out if Skaven didn't come in until a later cycle.

I will let you guys have at these questions before I post my thoughts.

well in my local meta there are alot of single faction decks since that is simply what ppls like to play. really the only skaven appear in all skaven decks and and so we see some interesting mono faction decks.

Our group thinks that the Order Thrower deck is probably the best in the current meta anyway, narrowly beating Orc/Skaven. So that would definitely become the best deck if Skaven weren't around.

I agree that Bolt Thrower would probably be the strongest deck with no skaven around.

I think that is wrong. The BT deck is designed with Rush decks in mind and that is why it is good NOW. If there were no rush decks, there would be more midrange decks that packed more support and development hate. Orc decks would run things like Pillage and Vomit and Smash-Go-Boom! and Grimgor and I think it would destroy the BT deck.

In our game group we used to play monofaction decks only (we appreciating the background of WH Universe), and the skavens are not used at all. Obviously, there is only fun play style to talk about. We have a lot of fun to play without them, and I guess, the game not became worse.

onestly in my country skaven aren't anymore that big problems, there are lots of decks against rush/agro, many different version of thrower (dwarf, order, destruction) so basicly we don't need to "ban" skaven from the tournaments/games.
