Well, I was just thinking it would be cool if i could see (Well, everybody...) if you consider yourselves a Radical, or Puritan?
The most twisted are the ones that think they aren't.

The grey inbetween, like 80% or so of Inquisitors
My Tech-Priest is an odd one. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being all Radical and 10 being Puritan he'd be at a 6ish or so for normal people. But that's normal people. For Tech-Priests he'd be around a 2 or so. Prone to fits of paranoia (just ask my group about Tattered Fates, and the bad thing was I was right every time, so it's only going to be worse), an infatuation with inferior tools (crappy hemp rope), has a "girl friend" (or about as close as a TP can come), and likes to try to invent and experiment.
He largely tries to get away with it by just being as useful as possible.

Puritan in thought, Radical in deed.
Ack, I apologize for the double post. My internet connection went weird on me and than dropped while I was sending it.
Anyway, Radical is just more fun to play out. If you burn it all (even if you believe you should) there's so much less drama
. Like our Psyk, she went a bit rogue on us during Tattered Fates, essentially pissed she couldn't go around flashing off her powers after she got them back (all in character, was fun/funny until the badness). Did we kill her? No, way to simple without enough drama. We knocked he out and tied her ass up and after we got off that stupid rock we gave her brain a fun ride on the Brain Bleach Express.
Radical. Istvaanism.
Though I do have Thorian leanings...
BYE
I have two characters atm.
The first is an Interrogator whose picture is probably in the 40k dictionary under the word "radical". He made a dark pact to save the acolyte's team from destruction at the hands of a demon which then haunted his psyche for years until he managed to bind it into the body of a high priest. For him though, it's a bit complicated because in many ways he was "forced" down the path of radicalism (in his eyes) and now he's trying to backtrack to a more balanced position.
My other character is a largely Puritan Inquisitor. He's a psyker so he shies away from the uber-puritan line of thought that is anti-psyker, but in most other matters he's relatively puritan. He's a very newly minted Inquisitor, so we'll see how long he lasts.
I agree that it's much more fun to play Radicals than Puritans in a lot of cases. The best area is grey though
. Always saying "just burn it, it looks dangerous" gets boring fast, but always saying "well hell, let's just try it once" can get boring too when it backfires at you. Playing a character who is trying to find his own place within the two extremes is where you can really get some depth.
Bah! Humbug! Radical ... Puritan! I'm independent!
So, in the end ......... I guess that makes me ... oh, right ... a Radical!
Puritan, not an extreme one though.
Because in the end, consorting with the daemon, the xeno and the heretic cannot be forgiven. Plus who are you going to trust? A pious sister of battle or a ragged hive ganger with bloodshot eyes?
PS: I'm a fan of flame-throwers...
The Machine Cult is not amused by petty factions of the Inquisition. Only one way exists, the way of the Machine God. Death to Omnissiah's enemies!

radical recongregator. " ah ca iras ca iiras les aristocrates a la lantern..." wel saboteur and mortiurges (starchamber too.) with some skil at investigation learn before the desire to change thing.

To OP: My ImpPsy is about a 4 on the Filadan Scale of Relative Radicalization. Slowly sliding down that slippery slope as it were....
To Filadan: I agree, but we have a VERY Puritan Guardsman leading our group (ImpPsy (me), Scum, Assassin, Guardsman) who cleaves RIDONKULOUSLY (to 8 spider: "ridonkulously= more extremely ridiculous!) close to the Imperial Guardsman's Uplifting Primer (I wish I hadn't brought that book to game....), especially the tenet "Be Strong in Your Ignorance". We're just starting the Haarlock Legacy, and he almost shot me for wanting to go to the Library (which is not Ecclesiarchy Approved) so we could find Haarlock's heir......I had to take a lesson from the Scum, who told me "Look, if you want to do something 'The General' wont approve, just don't tell him what you're doing...". Sadly, my ImpPsy craves approval, which leads to some really fun roleplay between me and the Guardsman.
NOTE: "The General" is the Guardsman's cover identity in House of Dust and Ash. The Assassin is his bodyguard, the scum is his Adjunct and I'm his Aide de Camp. Too much fun so far

i must be too tired i didn't understood that one.
who cleaves RIDONKULOUSLY (to 8 spider: "ridonkulously= more extremely ridiculous!)
The character I play; a Noble Born Adept, is a subtle radical. He is a student of the Colleges of the Hetaireia Lexis, a Xeno-Archivist and strongly supportive of the Polypsykana school of thought. He can both speak and read the Eldar tongue, and holds an unconventional respect for the aliens, tempered by a wary distrust. After all, they've tried really hard in the past to kill him and the cell he works with on more than one occasion. He is a firm believer in the whole "knowledge is power" adage, and tends to only give his allies enough information to allow the group to succeed at their goals. After all, knowledge also corrupts, and the others have demonstrated a limited capacity; in his eyes, to cope with the things we have learned. I've also managed to come away so far with the (second?) lowest IP and CP totals of the group. I think the Assassin may be lower; but he also avoids most situation which may find him tainted.

For my next campaign, one potential player is talking about an Istaavanian inquisitor and another about an Afriel strain PC. This can only end well.

Well, you know what "ridiculous" means right? (def.: causing or worthy of ridicule or derision; absurd; preposterous; laughable: a ridiculous plan. nonsensical, ludicrous, funny, droll, comical, farcical)
If you understand that...then take that definition and multiply it by 100 (or you can just say "ridonkulous")
I just wish I knew someone who spoke French so he could explain the nuances to you in your native language. Barring that, I just say this:
"He takes every word in the Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer as the absolute and undeniable word and intent of the Emperor." Especially the thought's for the day.

okay got it. i was wondering i you spoke of the choices of career for my radical caracter it is not. in understand what you said now.
Eisenhorn and Ravenor are my mentors in this case
Jericus is probably a 6 and half or so. He follows orders, kills fools who try to kill his team, and is a good family man, teaching his twins love of the Emprah.
Moderate Radical for me.
@Illithidelderbrain : the expression "Lawful Stupid" comes to mind.
well.. Tech-Priest believing in the ommnissiah without much thought of the imperial creed so ti comes down to ... I don't care as long as it dosn't touch the subject of omnissiah, tech,tech-heresy, ...
mutants... hm... the AS says burn it, done, uh a heretic... the cleric wants to interrogate him... no killing, another inquisitor tries to lure me away from my current one with missions about xenotech artifacts hell I am tempted but I do check with my teammates if it is "legal" to switch inquisitors... (someone said it isn't and later on it turns out the inquisitor was a revived zombie or smth)
so #1 will of the ommnissiah #2 will of the group as we currently have an Adepta Sorroritas onboard it is very puritan

Like almost all radicals.
At the start my character was an idealist and puritanical Amalathian arbite serving under Globus Varrak. However as the years passed and as the awful truths about the Galaxy was made clear, he drifted into a radical Xanthite mindset... Still under an Amalathian disguise of course!
