FFG to have dedicated miniatures division

By Watercolour Dragon, in Runewars Miniatures Game

Sadly we have no news that says it will be doing Terrinoth stuff so it could just be milking the Star Wars moo-ney cow as much as it can but FFG is to be split into a miniatures division and a board and card games division.

Even if RWM isn't the long-term (it's been said before 'no more new content' doesn't mean a line being axed) it would be good if they picked up the seeds RWM has planted for good quality minis in the Terrinoth realm and grew something from them.

Perhaps even having the confidence to keep RWM going- even if that is in a 'nothing new' capacity, just keeping it in print.

Doesn't really tell us anything useful yet but fingers crossed Terrinoth is in the plans of both new divisions (and the new approach to having Edge take care of all the RPG stuff- more Terrinoth Genesys please!) as hopefully Terrinoth is to tick all three checkboxes in future.

Only thing is I'd say the new split divisions still need to see the overlap- e.g. the value of minis to RPG'ers that use minis, the value of the lore from other games etc.

I've been digging around for more news about the break-up of FFG into the two companies, and reviewing that interview again, it got me thinking about Steve's comment about Imperial Assault. In that, it was still a strong seller even though there was no new content being developed for it. They were still going to be re-printing Imperial Assault because of that.

It was pretty clear from the interview that FFG Miniatures was going to focus on only 3 lines: SW: Legion, Armada, and X-Wing, and RWM was left off of that, but they may keep content re-printed in some fashion. They did have a big 75% off clearance in April, so I'm not so sure of that anymore, as they were practically giving away stock at that point, but there may be the possibility of reprints in the future depending on demand.

I would like to see that they use the better developed miniature production processes that they have made with Legion and RWM with other games such as Descent, Mansions and so forth.

I am concerned about what FFG: Board and Card Games looks like after the shake-up and they trim the game lines that they are producing. It obvious that they want to clear out their warehouses of under-performers, especially with Asmodee USA taking over distribution of their products.

No mention of RWM in the Atomic Mass/Asmodisney TM news either...

"Development of all future miniatures games will be handled by Atomic Mass as well. " but no mention of any names so it seems very Marvel/SW currently

it's just a cash optimization flow for shareholders, this is not an operation to gather creative forces to make great games.

Sadly, this game totally ended, like BattleLore 2nd. The rights will not be sold because they need the world of Terinoth (Descent etc.). It is outrageous that even after so many attempts, they failed to release a profitable Terrinoth themed skirmish/wargame game.

We see appearing a lot of new Runewars Community in France, Germany, UK.... strange, isn't it?

This game is wonderfull, and we can easily embark new players on board... We have seen a lot of new players due to the low price of the figs the last months, could be a good opportunity for FFG to think about a V2... Yes, I know I am an optimistic...

Rights to do a Terrinoth tabletop wargame could easily be separated from other Terrinoth games .
