Piett 2+ Ship

By flatpackhamster, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Trying out an idea to double use Piett by placing him on an Interdictor:

Name: Piett 400
Faction: Imperial
Commander: Admiral Piett

Assault:
Defense:
Navigation:

Imperial II (120)
• Strategic Adviser (4)
• Local Fire Control (4)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• Leading Shots (4)
• XI7 Turbolasers (6)
• Avenger (5)
= 150 Points

Interdictor Suppression Refit (90)
• Admiral Piett (22)
• Commander Woldar (4)
• Projection Experts (6)
• Disposable Capacitors (3)
• Targeting Scrambler (5)
• G7-X Grav Well Projector (2)
• Interdictor (3)
= 135 Points

Gozanti Cruisers (23)
• Hondo Ohnaka (2)
• Comms Net (2)
= 27 Points

Gozanti Cruisers (23)
• Comms Net (2)
= 25 Points

Squadrons:
• Zertik Strom (15)
• Howlrunner (16)
• Valen Rudor (13)
• Soontir Fel (18)
= 62 Points

Total Points: 399

The job of the two Comms Net gozantis is to toss tokens to both main ships, allowing them to use Piett's ability to turn tokens in to dials. Squadron and CF dials mostly for the ISD, engineering mostly for the Interdictor.

I can use the Interdictor title to refresh Piett and give me 2 uses per turn of him.

I feel that it's a bit short on fighters. I am also slightly bothered by being forced to activate the ISD before the Interdictor in order to gain Double Pietts for the round.

You shouldn't need to activate the ISD first. The Interdictor title can trigger on any ship's activation (even enemy ships) to refresh Piett.

So you can use him on the Interdictor first, then refresh him with the title when your opponent activates a ship.

Thanks, I didn't know that.

It looks to me as though Piett is a better bet than Thrawn at 400pts, because I should (SHOULD) be able to get 4 turns of double dial activations for both my ships, (assuming 3 lots of comms net during the 6 turns plus a Hondo for a fourth) and I am not tied to particular commands that I have to preselect.

Please post some feedback once you tried out this list. I'm really looking forward to it.

Thrawn still has his place at 400 points. For example, if you have more than two real combat ships, you can’t double-dial them all with Piett, but you can with Thrawn. Piett also requires an Interdictor if you want to use him twice; Thrawn just does his thing. Finally, you can combine a token with a Thrawn dial in order to say, activate six squadrons with a Quasar Fire. Until we get a ruling from FFG as to whether Piett’s “as-if-you-spent-a-dial” command can be combined with a token, it’s unknown if he can do the same (the FAQ ruling on Commander Beck would seem to indicate that he can, however).

The combination was extremely effective against my opponent's Sato Starhawk fleet last night. He had Sato, Starhawk, two hammerheads with APTs. Targeting scramblers were useful to make my opponent

reroll his black crits and saved me from any faceup damage cards from the APTs. Projection experts kept the ISD in the fight for longer. Using two comms net gozantis worked really well because it gave me more tokens than I could reasonably use. Piett worked well.
