Edited by xero989I was under the assumption that the Valen/Instigator clarification just meant that you COULD attack instigator if only engaged by Valen. Not that you could attack instigator OR Valen. Pretty sure Valen is still invincible in that scenario.

Right, So when a squadron is engaged with Valen and at distance 1 of Instigator Valens "cannot" be attacked applys, so Valens card effect overrules RRG because squadrons can only attack squadrons they are engaged with "if possible". Since it is NOT possible to attack Valen, that is why you can attack Instigator. But as pointed out, if the squadron is engaged with other squadrons that are not Valen, they must attack those squadrons, since it "is possible".
