Never used grenades before.....

By drail14me, in Star Wars: Legion

So, looking to try some grenades. Been trying to find the rules on them. Only thing I found was in the learn to play book saying you may use them during an attack.

The way I understand them is that they are a weapon OPTION during an attack. A trooper chooses either their blaster or a grenade? So, two troopers can use their blaster while others use grenades?

If ALL troopers use a grenade that has Impact, does it stack?

That is correct. Any number of troopers may use a grenade if they have them, while the rest can choose from a different weapon they have.

For refference, you can find the rule on page 77 of the Rules Refference. It's under "Upgrade cards":

"Some upgrade cards feature the hard point (󲉸), grenade (󲉾), armament (󲊉), crew (󲊈), or ordnance (󲊏), upgrade icons; these are weapon upgrades. These upgrades do not add any minis to a unit; instead, every mini in that unit may use that weapon when attacking the enemy."

Yes.

Our local meta was playing this wrong for a LONG time.

page 50 RRG:
"For example, an AT-ST has the arsenal 2 keyword; if that AT-ST uses the free card action on the General Weiss upgrade card to gain arsenal 2, that AT-ST now has arsenal 4. Similarly, when a Stormtrooper unit composed of four minis performs an attack, if each mini chooses to use the weapon on an equipped Impact Grenades upgrade card, the attack pool would consist of four instances of impact 1, and thus the attack pool would have impact 4. "

Unless stated otherwise. The new Ion grenades coming out will only add Ion 1 to the attack pool and does not stack.

Ion grenades "droid poppers" and smoke grenades so far are the only grenades that do this.

I have run Frag Grenades with my Snows with Flamer for a while. Really makes things nice to swap white dice for red at range 1.

Smoke Grenades/tokens have changed in the latest RRG - they now stack

I remember grenades being used in the early stages of the game. However ignoring the odd impact grenades on snows, I almost forgot this game has grenades 😋

It's because people tend to stay as far as possible from enemy units. I'd say grenades are more useful in skirmish

I'm disappointed that one of the B2 heavies doesn't give them a grenade slot, and then increases the range of grenades to range 2 or 3. How am I supposed to watch out for wrist rockets when they don't have them?

Any restrictions as far as tossing grenades over obstacles? In a recent game we had opposing squads on opposite sides of a high wall (high enough they couldn't see over it). One squad had grenades and we decided there was no reason they couldn't toss the grenades over the wall at the other squad. It was quite effective :)

Grenades attack like any other weapon. You must have line of sight to the target to attack in this game. There's no reason you can't house rule grenades to be an exception if you want, just be aware that it doesn't work like that.

B2-HA has a wrist rocket
