A player had a question I couldn't answer with any confidence: With regards to the free trained skills allowed by race, are these skills then considered primary for considerations of advancement? My gut instinct was to say no, but I couldn't find any RAW stating one way or the other.

Unless they are career, you need to advance them as non-career. Character generation is a seperate process that lies outside in-game 'advances'.
