The Rogue One List - Any experience?

By FastWalker, in X-Wing Squad Lists

For Hyperspace, I'd love to fly 5x Tie Strikers and 1x Tie Reaper. In theory, having 18 red attack dice on 6 fast ships sound menacing. The challenge is planning 12 different moves per turn.

Has anyone tried this list? If so, what has been your experienced and/or advice?

Thanks! Fly True and May the Force be with You.

Just to say that I like the look of this. I don't have the ships in my collection to be able to try it, but I would if I could!

Five strikers seems really good actually. Like an Imperial X-wing swarm.

But five striker models...

One thing worth considering, if playing Extended and not Hyperspace, it might be better to bring a Scarif Base Pilot Reaper at Init 1, to match the Strikers for ease and flexibility of activation, rather than non-matching Init 2 Vizier. With the extra 6 points, I'd bring Death Troopers, which is also a great Rogue One thematically-appropriate option.

As to tactics... the #1 rule with Strikers and Reapers is practice, practice, practice. It takes plain reps and experience to get good with them, since those extra moves are... different. It's really easy to misjudge. I haven't put in the reps, and other than Duchess, I will take Lambdas and TIE Interceptors any day of the week if I can.

However, these things are great when you do get the reps in. Probably isn't even a huge number of reps it takes to get solid with Ailerons ships, just more than I'm willing to invest.

There's a great thread on Strikers (not specifically Striker/Reaper) in the battle reports subforum, but it's really long.

Here's hoping you get the chance either by buying more Strikers or borrowing from friends

Strangely over time I found myself with 5x Tie Strikers. I love the models and there were more than a few sales that convinced me to buy one more.

The only reason why I considered this list was because it was Hyperspace legal. If I'm flying an extended game, there's WAY more lists I'd like to fly first before this. Sadly, I wish Hyperspace gave a selection of up to 8 ships per faction. Maybe after a few wave releases.

Yeah, I've put in less than 10 games into this list. I'm getting better with each rep. My only issue is Strikers can pop rather quickly.

Thanks for that link. I was really surprised with Andrew Neusch vs Tyler Tippet Texas System Open game turned out. Initially, I thought Tyler Tippet could get Boba down to half before losing.

Yeah, I'm not wild about i1 in Hyperspace. We're kicking around a few ideas.

4x Black Sq. Scout and 2x Planetary Sentinels

5x Black Sq. Scout (Hull Upgrade, Ruthless)

4x Black Sq. Scout + Major Vermeil, all with Intimidation

There are a whole lot of combinations.

EDIT: but if you have 5 Strikers, and you want to use them all, and i1's are the only way they fit, why not go for it!

I like these choices. I'm especially digging the Intimidation upgrade. Why didn't i think of that? Thanks! Time to go back to YASB.

No problem. I don't have to use all 5 Strikers. But it does make me regret my purchase.

Posted too soon. Here's a 5x Striker list with Intimidation:

I have not tried Intimidation spam yet, but based on past games and my flying style, it ought to do work. Let me know how it goes. I'll post here when I try it.
