Hello!

Does a fan made sheet or game mat similar to this: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/star-wars-roleplaying-accessories/products/star-wars-roleplaying-gamemat/

exist?

The official one in the link does not have range bands to place minis though. I found out that using minis during space battles is very helpful.

Thanks!

the method you are describing for range tracking doesnt really work. What does work is using maps. just dont use the grid. just place minis in relative positions and state what ranges things are at.

Daeglan is right my group tried that once and it broke down rather fast

As my gateway drug for P&P was tabletop wargaming i use the same approach here, paper with some environment printed on, battle mat, cardboard stuff from other games or a blank table with snacks as "terrain" and then just state that your pencil's lenght is short or close range and go from there with tokens.

Easy to remember where everyone is and relative distances to other npcs/ships just fall naturally into place.

The only difference to wargaming should be that distances should have a bit leeway to make things easy and fluid without checking them 4 tmes...
