Arkham loves me and I love it

By Cardinal Nicodemus, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Okay. A moment ago I finished my first turn. I am Joe Diamond investigator and Ancient One is Yig. So, mythos is selected, clue appears, monster spawns, it's my movement phase. So, as I started in the Police Station I thought it would be great to go to Black Cave, after all it is the place where another clue token appeared, and my char likes clue tokens. Okay, I take them, take the appropriate purple card for my location, it says to pass a luck roll and something happens. I fail, lose 1 sanity and monster appears. Then I fail Will check and end up in Arkham Asylum :D

Pretty neat for the first turn. At the end, again a mythos card, guess what, I cannot seal gates, just close them :))))

Game hit me hard in the first turn. And I love it. Now off to a second turn...

Don't worry, No One Can Help You Now won't stay forever... although it did lost me the game once.

Tip: You might have wanted to spend clues to pass that Horror check. After all, you're losing clues anyway when you're insane and Joe gets 2 dice per clue so it's a good deal.

Yeah, used it once. Forgot the other time. Still, the tings aren't looking great.

Can someone shed a light how does the terror track works? It doesn't say in rules in what conditions does it increases.

1. Some mythos cards specificly tells you to increase the terror level.
2. When the number of monsters in Arkham reaches its limit (number of investigators+3), all new spawned monsters go to the Outskirts. When the outskirts fill (8-the number of investigators), the next monster that is placed on it causes it to overflood- all the monsters there are returned to the cup and the terror level increases by 1. Don't forget to remove a random ally from the game each time the terror level rises.

Yes it does... This will help you learn how to play much faster. Whenever a concept word comes up you can just type it in the search box there and skim through the rules pdf to find it quickly. Terror track rules are on page 18 and 20.

Also note that since you are playing with one investigator you will most likely have a battle against Yig rather then win by sealing gates (next to impossible with a solo investigator). Its still a good idea for your first game since it makes for less confusion and better pacing.

Unless you enjoy gearing upp for a final battle each game you may end up playing more investigators at once when you solo. No matter how you play, its still an addictive game though.
