Psychometry as an ability, talent or force power...?

By Nheko, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

I will like to role play a Kiffar (Quinlan Avis) in a local game but I haven’t found anything related the Kiffars and the Psychometric ability that some Kiffar exhibit.

So, let me start with; is there such a thing as Psychometry ( also known as Sense Echo , was the Force Ability of acquiring information about people or events associated with an object solely by touching it. Whoever used that ability received input from sight, sound, and emotions) in the game? Does it currently exist as a species ability, talent or force power?

The only thing that is similar are the Sentinel Investigator talents Reconstruct the Scene and Sense the Scene.

Officially, there's not much apart from the Investigator talents that you mentioned.

Unofficially, there's a few different options.

Myself and Nytwyng each came up with our own takes on a Psychometry power, found here and here respectively.

You can also adapt existing Force powers to cover that sort of thing, with Foresee being a popular option, though you could probably tweak the Seek power so that the user has the option of either seeing the target's location or learning a detail about the target, with the magnitude upgrades providing additional details as normal.

You came up with a psychometry power, Don? I gotta take a look, psychometry is one of my favorite powers, and one I've felt has been sorely missing!

*reads*

EDIT: I like it a lot! One question - are the Duration upgrades intended to have a stacking cost (i.e. to sense back a year, you need to activate the day and week upgrades too, so a cost of [OOO] for duration), or do all but the last one effectively replace each other?

They're generally meant to replace the previous one, though nothing's stopping you from activating different upgrades; for instance spending the FP to look a year and a month into the past if one so desires. I didn't fret too much about it as it's some pretty niche cases where there'd be a need or benefit to activating different Multitude upgrades at the same time.

Thanks Dono. I adding your Psychometry take to our group’s resources.

Let me know how it works out. I'll admit that the power had no real playtesting, so I'm curious to see how it goes in actual play.

Sure will.

For what it’s worth, I like both of our takes on it.

Much like the game has Foresight and Influence alongside the adventure-specific Warde’s Foresight and Jersarra’s Influence, I’m thinking of pulling yours into the mix alongside mine, and given the genesis of your version, calling it Kestis’ Psychometry.

I'll take a look at yours next!
