I got the Mother of Dragons expansion and am currently looking into the deluxe mat to see if it's worth it. I can see it's 3x3 large, which is a bit larger than the original map with the expansion map as well. The major problem I always had with the game board is it's actually a bit too small... All the units end up cluttering the field, and covering icons and names of the locations, hence why i would actually like a larger map… Now, is the deluxe map larger, as in Westeros and Essos, or is it the same size as the classic game board? I might be considering making my own instead if the regions and locations are the same size.

I have the deluxe mat, and as far as I can tell, regions and locations are the same size. Units still tend to cover up barrels and crowns and names.
