Prepping for my first Hyperspace...

So as the title represents, this is my first time doing a Hyperspace tournament. I don't really like following meta so I try to pick different list people usually don't use. So far after grinding my brain on YASB, I have come up with 2 squads that I feel happy to fly. Please let me know what you think and which one should I use?

List 1 - The Republic

Summary:

So I will have 2 maneuverable ships and 2 beafy ships. Why R3 instead of R4? Well I want to target lock "Matchstick", getting him 2 red tokens on him which will allow him to reroll 2 dice and still free up target locks for Kenobi and Ric. I hope to have Matchstick ionize someone and have a tanky naked ARC-170 soaking up damage. Hopefully fly the other 2 ships where I can try to flank if possible.

Summary:

Well, my thinking on this is to have 2 agile flankers with the A-Wings and then 2 other ships as 3 dice attackers (hopefully Kaz). I want to have Nien and Kaz on one other end or even maybe have Kaz on his own to try to flank also.

Tournament is on March 21, so I want to have time flying this list. Thanks again!

List 1: Broadside is probably better than Matchstick in general. That'd save a few points, maybe allow R5 on Obi

List 2: I've got some mixed feelings. Nien Nunb is probably fine, but perhaps expensive. Kaz is pretty overbuilt. Best-performing Kaz I've seen are just Heroic and R5, to have a fairly cheap 3-attack, 3-agility ship with a nice dial. Might be enough points saved from trimming Kaz (and R4 off of Nien Nunb) to bring Snap instead of Tallie. Personally, I'd rather have a 3-dice gun. Possibly down to preference. Another variant: Heroic/R5 Kaz, Heroic/Optics Zizi, Heroic Snap, and Cova Nell in the transport with Heroic and Leia.

I have no opinion on list 1 as I've never flown Republic. But I'm a Resistance player, so here are my thoughts on list 2:

1. As @theBitterFig mentioned: Kaz is probably overloaded. Keep him slim. R5 is better than a hull upgrade because without R5 you will start with a handicap against I1 pilots. Take R5 and ditch that first damage card.
2. I like Nien only with pattern analyser. Because that's not an option in Hyperspace I have trouble justifying flying Nien. I'm not saying he's bad, but there are other options. With a slim Kaz you might find room to get Poe instead?
3. Think about what lists you might encounter. Does your list have a plan against them? Can you switch something that improves your chances? I have no idea about your local meta. But Boba is definitely a thing in Hyperspace atm. The Boba/Koshka list played by Timo Raabe comes at 199 points. Boba is I5 and has Slave 1 title. You have 3 ships at I5 in your list that can reposition. Use that to your advantage. Win that bid and move after Boba, so he can't use Slave 1 as effectively.

@cybu- thanks for you input, just some questions I have...

With applying R5 to Kaz, eliminating his damage would prevent his ability right? Don't you need to have a damage card present to enable his ability to have extra dice? Yes, only disadvantage would be against i1 pilots. (Sorry, I am new to the Fireball)

Second, Poe seems like a good choice too but wow he cost a lot, plus if I go against the likes of Boba and Koshka, wouldn't that be counter productive? Koshka wants people to be stressed as Poe is often stress due to his ability. Then I loss points to one of my A-Wings with Advance Optics which make them pretty viable. But I guess I can try to arc dodge Koshka with Poe...

I feel way less opinionated on list 2. Other than how heavily loaded Kaz is, I think the other three are fine.

That being said, I like list 1 more and have more thoughts on it.

I LOVE CLT Obi - I don't think R3 is necessary, as he will get more mileage out of focusing once he's in combat anyway, so he could just use his single lock for Matchstick.

I LOVE Wolffe

I second the above suggestion of switching Matchstick to Broadside. Without VTG, I think Broadside is much more worth his points. An ICT does the job for him.

I'm not a huge fan of Ric - I would suggest CLT Plo instead

The ability of Kaz reads: While you defend or perform a primary attack, if the enemy ship's initiative is higher than the number of damage cards you have, you may roll 1 additional die.

So without getting rid of the first damage card you won't get the bonus die against I1 ships. With R5 you can enable his bonus die against everyone.

There's definitely an argument to be made against Poe. He's expensive but he's also good. And in Hyperspace there's a certain void of I6 pilots so I guess he has a chance to shine. Moving after Boba is definitely a good idea. And against Koshka you don't NEED to take the stress if you can't get out of arc.
