Clone Wars Season 7 is now live! Thoughts?

It's only one episode right now, right?

Yeah.
Lame. I much prefer whole season drops.

Then just be glad you don't live in the 60s (or the 70s, or the 80s, or any era before the last decade or so).
As far as actual discussion of the show...
Looked to me like they made a group of clone PCs. You know, where everyone is exactly the same by being totally different.
Should I be excited to watch this? It looked from the trailer like they made a lame excuse for bringing Ahsoka back to lead clones. Is that in fact what they did?

Not really. The first episode was unrelated to that arc and was from the original season 7 story reels, so I haven't seen the Ahsoka episodes yet. From what I've heard, the episodes with Ahsoka are based on the Ahsoka novel, which I haven't read in order to avoid spoilers. I do know that the 332nd was in it.
As for should you be excited, I don't know. I know I am! I've been waiting for this for years. I watched the story reels a couple years ago and was disappointed that they hadn't been fully done up. It isn't quite as brand new as The Mandalorian was because of the general knowledge of where the story goes as well as the fact that we've seen some of these stories before, but it's still pretty good. Hard to tell from just the one episode, but I'd say not quite as good as season 6, but about on par with 4-5.
One thing that hurt this episode was the dialogue. It felt awkward in a couple areas, but I'm not sure how much of that was intentional given the... personalities of some of the Bad Batch characters. I like that the Bad Batch is pretty much Delta Squad on steroids, though I do find Wrecker a bit grating at times.
Now we need stats for their shuttle
I would also love a set piece for the cyber center and the outpost

The Ashoka novel starts at the end the episode, which was already in script form.

im not sure what you mean

Sorry I meant to say the Ashoka novel starts at the end of the then script only invasion of Mandalore episodes (which should be the series finale). Ashoka and Rex leave for Mandalore at the same time as Skywalker and Kenobi go on their mission to save Chancellor Palpatine. In other words the last episodes happen at the same time as Revenge of the Sith.
Edited by EoenLooks like Wrecker is using a DC17m.
Did anyone else think that Rex's DC-17s sounded different?
I just rewatched it, minus a bad headache and morning sun reflecting off the snow and onto the TV (yeah, that made things difficult).
It was significantly better the second time round, I'm happy to say. The dialogue (except for Wrecker, but that was intentional) was much better than I remembered, though it still had a couple rough spots.
Oh, and the DC-17s definitely sounded differently. I hope that there was some IU reason for that and that it'll revert in future episodes.
I noticed on the banner art for Clone Wars season 7 that there is an ARC trooper/Commander in Ahsoka's colors, and I think he was wearing a jetpack! From what I could see, it looks really good!
Star Wars at its best. Animation at its best. Story is good, pacing, framing, colour palette, lighting, camera angles all top notch. Those long sweeping shots of endless screen real-estate... by the Force I missed that in Rebels. And the background details were a visual feast...bugs, animals, unique foliage and terrain... nobody does that anymore. Great descriptive fodder for GMing.

That's not new. It's rarely been great, usually pretty utilitarian to get through the story. Where it needed to it did rise to the occasion (Ahsoka leaving, Maul vs Palpatine and other similar dramatic scenes) but it's often just "shortcut" dialogue. As long as it's not as bad as E2, it doesn't bother me

You mention that and I instantly cringe to the point of my face exploding. When Episode 1 and 2 were the only SW movies I had access to, I watched them quite a bit. To the point of being able to quote, verbatim, the first 30 minutes or so. Even then, I cringed to death every time Anakin opened his big mouth.
I love that era, but I skip quite a few scenes whenever I rewatch them.
That said, #JarJardidnothingwrong
wonder what Crosshair's rifle was
Maybe rex modded his blasters

Maybe. I noticed that Hunter and Tech's DC-17s also had the same sound.

Have those been statted in game?

I do not believe so...
Haven't come across it, and no FFG books were cited as sources for the Wookieepedia article.

If there were any realism to Star Wars, that change of sound could reflect a planet with a different atmospheric density. Of course, that should cause all sounds to be distorted somewhat.
Wrecker is my favorite of the bad batch, this is not because I play the big guy.

<.<
Totally not because I play the big guy in my Campaigns.
It is now officially Canon that Obi-Wan knew...
Now I just wonder how much.
I really like the added scenes. I'm glad it wasn't just a filled-out copy of the story reels.
Odd mistake for Canon, it says that Skako Minor is the Skakoan homeworld, but they still need their pressure suits, whereas the clones and Anakin don't. Doctor Aphra got it mostly right, because visitors needed pressure suits while the Skakoans didn't (one point on this though, am I wrong, or would the idea of Skakoans imploding* in foreign atmospheres suggest that their homeworld has a lower-pressure atmosphere? Skako is listed as having a high-pressure atmosphere. In Ahpra, the visitors do not seem to be particularly bothered by the pressure). It makes more sense in my estimation for Skako Minor to be a colony of sorts in the same system as Skako Major (the old Legends ecumenopolis). The issue with that is the presence of octuptarras (anyone else notice those?
) on Skako Minor, as importing them does not make much sense because of the pressure differential.
Headcanon Handwavium!
Skako Minor is a planet in the same system as Skako Major, the homeworld of the Skakoans and an ecumenopolis. The Techno union moved some of their operations off-world to Skako Minor, and established a few settlements. When the Skakoans settled on Skako Minor, they discovered an interesting species--the octuptarra. An eight-eyed, multi-legged gastropod that floats serenely through the air on their bags of gas. Given the unusual pressure of their homeworld, the Skakoans needed to wear their pressure suits while on the world, which prevented widespread settlement of the world.
*Does anyone else remember a line about implosion, or am I misremembering that?
