The Iron Throne - How to deal with it?

By Amnell2, in 4. AGoT Deck Construction

Dear all.

I play AGOT with a few friends, one of which plays with Baratheon. Recently he has managed to pull out 'The Iron Throne' Which basically means he wins dominance. Does anyone have any card recommendations for house Stark that will deal with this location card?

He also tends to pull out the Knight of Flowers, so any recommendations on how to kill it off without engaging it in challenges would also be gratefully recieved.

Amnell

wait for the stark box :P (which will give you two more kill events and frozen solid for location control).

Right now for locations:

Price of war - discard 2 non-limited locations after you win a military challenge where a war crest you control participated.

Wildlings (Like Osha in house or maynce Rayder neutral) and Wildling Spikes

you could also try Condemed by the council which discards one location but you need to win an intrigue challenge.

Right now for Knight of Flowers:

Milk of the Poppy

Milk of the Poppy

Milk of the Poppy

without engaging in a challenge there is guilty, core set robb stark, bear island (not my favorite as it limits your deck building), icy catapult, and probably something else that I can't remember.

You could also run a few shadows cards and keep them in shadows until Knight of flowers is gone.

With engaging in a challenge there is Ice and lethal counter attack

oh and did i mention Milk of the Poppy yet?

Laughs. Milk of the poppy is a good card. But I thought Flower Boy couldn't not have attachments??

Amnell

I believe the core set version does not allow attachments but for the one you are talking about (from King's Landing) I think he will accept attachments just fine.

Tsk! His playing Flower Boy from the core set, so it can't have attachments. llorando.gif

I could use the guilty event card, but it's relying on having either 3 influence out or a character with a ring icon.

Yep, and Lars had some other good ideas for dealing with the core set version. I agree with him about the Bear Island as well (it will definitely take care of core set Flower Boy, but I don't like the deck-building restrictions it entails).

ice is a great card stark got a ton of kill leathel cunter attack

oh wow I didn't think anyone used that one :)

even better it means you can icy catapult him....stick it on a refugee and its a sure kill.

Yep, do this. Icy Catapult is still the top offensive AND defensive weapon the Starks have available.
