SW Legion, weekly / monthly magazine miniature subscription spotted, maybe

By KnightHammer, in Star Wars: Legion

I saw this on Facebook, it looks like one of those weekly / monthly publications we have in the UK / EU - like Warhammer - Mortal Realms and Warhammer 40k - Conquest - where you get models in each issue and they build up to make a force and comes with a magazine detailing background etc

Looks from the packaging to be by Altaya / DeAgostini

Looks like 3 Rebel troops and Darth Vader.

Whoever packed that paintbrush upside down needs disintegrating! 🤣

Do you think it is the same Darth Vador than in the coreset ?

Looks like it. They didn't even bother creating new art, I doubt they'd create new models.

If it follows the same format of the Gamesworkshop ones then it won't have anything new in it.
It is a good way to collect everything piecemeal as long as the price isn't too bad.

If real - im not sure why someone would fake this - im wondering why there was was not more hype and fanfare about it coming out beforehand.

Darth Vader in a corset? Oh, you said core set...

Then it's a good way to cherry-pick things for me. I'm a CW era player, but I'm okay with adding Darth Vador to my collection for this price tag :) !

These are generally no use to existing players but they are fantastic for two reasons. One, getting advertising out there to a wider audience and two, bringing in new players. These magazines are one of the reasons GW’s LOTR was so successful.

The GW lotr ones were fantastic value. And had some nice exclusives. M8ght biy this for some variance

Still offers more practical protection than the other 95% of bikini armor around 😛 .

Hope this magazine comes out in Germany too, besides picking up stuff from the original core set that I don't have getting stuff like additional Legion dice (even if there is a considerable price jump after issue 2 or 3) for cheap would be VERY appreciated.

Also interesting is that the booklet says that the collection will have stuff from all four factions (including Seperatists and the Galactic Republic). Might be a reasonably cheap way to get additional clone troopers or B1 droids, considering you only need 4/6 regular dudes for a squad rather than the 7/9 models in a boxed set and all of us probably have quite a few spare special/heavy weapon troopers gathering dust anyway.

Maybe its the new replacement parts system!

Is Altaya like a French licensed repackager?

As far as I know the GW ones were not and are not available in the states. Maybe I'm just looking past them or live in the wrong area. But that makes me think these won't be in the states. It's a European marketing thing. Everytime I've been to Britain, the grocery stores and stuff are packed with these types of magazines on a plethora of kid's topics. We just don't do that in the US. They make me jealous when I'm in UK gas stations and whatnot. Magazines with loud colorful shrink wrap or poly-bags, used to attach toys and craft supplies and stuff. Looks awesome. We don't have those here.

Do you have a link to the facebook thread? Hopefully it gets released in Ireland as we are also in the EU. For 1.50 you'd have an extra unit of corps rebels if you already bought the upgrades and fitted them with heavy weapons. Handy for me as I do all my units in a distinct theme. Quite excited about this now.

According to the Star Wars Legion France account on Facebook, this is a test run. Who knows what if anything will come out of it.

The GW mags were drip fed world wide to various countries. England first, then Germany and France before going to Australia after something like 50 issue had been released in the UK.

I think I read somewhere that Conquest was not going to be released in the US but then the US is also the only country with a Warhammer Cafe I believe.

I did see ONE if the LOTR magazines many years late, priced in pounds not dollars, at the back of a gaming store. It seemed like a liquidation type of item. Not actually intended for the US.

I think a fair amount of people would get issue 1 to convert him , i wonder if Luke is in the first few cheap issues he would be conversion fodder as well

I remember the LoTR mags in Australia. The first one was super cheap, but after that they doubled in price and were not worth getting.
