German/US infanteri same quality as the British...

By Grand Stone, in Tide of Iron

As everybody who have played both TOI and the expansion Days of the fox, the british infanteri are far better quality than the german/US. The british is so much easier to pull in and out of the squad bases. And, I request german/US infanteri to be the same...

-New versions of TOI, is it based on the same productioin? In other words, if I buy a new version of TOI, is the infatneri the same as in the original or same quality as the british?

-Are German/US troops with the same quality as the British at all available?

I don't believe so because a friend just picked up Tide of Iron and his new copy looks just like mine.

But yes, the British infantry figures are much easier to put on and pull off the bases. But if you examine the figs and bases, you will notice a difference between them and the German and American infantry. Peg design and holes are not the same.

One note though, as you use your Tide of Iron game more and more, the German and American infantry get a little easier to work with. And if you were one of the few that drilled out the holes, they probably just fall out.

My base copy of TOI seems to be just as good as DOTF for peg fitting. As I said before over on the BGG forum it seems FFG has indeed changed the base games squad bases on the latest production run of TOI. My copy of the game comes with the fixed wording on the strategic cards so I have no need to remember about the card errata at the back of the rulebook. If your copy came with the fixed cards you may have the newer better fitting squad bases, then again maybe not. Perhaps the two separate fixes came at different times. Of coarse the very latest versions would have both fixes and I was lucky enough that my purchase came with both updates. It all depends on where you get your copy from. If you buy it from a place that is still trying to dump older copies then you will be out of luck. Problem is I don't think you can tell from the outside of the box how new it is.
